m4/3 75-300
Aiyoh... Why so pessimist?

Don't you think that the current ZD stable of HG/SHG lenses pretty much addressed to the majority needs of the photographers.

What are you look at now?

Technically, if the reviews at lenstip.com and other such websites are worth believing, then our lenses are terribly overpriced, not worth the hype and money, etc...

Actually, the only thing I am slightly buzzed about is the oly focusing and pricing. Just lowering their prices by 200 AND improving to get focusing speeds for all their SHG lenses to the level of the 12-60mm would be sweet.

*goes back to reading silly comments on dpreview oly forums and 43rumors*:p

I have to say that the 4/3 lenses are pretty much mature now, only the SHG range needs an update. It would be awesome to see 35-100mm f2.0 becoming SWD. But technology with lens braking and motors have to be developed to stop a lens this size. Or you will see many front elements falling off... even the 14-35mm SWD f2.0 had such problems.

The lenses are there and in place now, so Olympus should develop really good cameras to go with them.

m4/3 is still at the beginning stage and even Olympus was surprised by the market response. A complete merger between both systems aren't as easy as people think, and it will not happen in the next year or three years. Look at how long it took for the E-System to mature. About 4 years, right up the release of SWD lenses. The 9-18mm was a sweet bonus.

But at the end of the day, I still think the E-System is like any other system, with its strengths and weaknesses, and I am sticking with E-System for its strength is what I like.

All I am asking for now, is for the Kodak sensor to come back in a E-1 form factor. That is all that I am asking for.

I hope the revamp of these 2 SHG to become 12-45 F2 & 50-180 F2, CDAF capable & SWD :p

Kodak sensor? My gut feeling is not in this iteration of E5. When i scroll thru the pics for the torchlight challenge, those E1 pics really has more pop than all those NMOS cam these days, but u can only buy whatever is on the market, so can't bitch much HAHAHAHAHA!!! :bsmilie:

Kodak certainly has the technology, but they can't just do it once and stop the way they did.

More recently, they introduced a camera sensor for a phone that gave a phone the same photo quality as a point-and-shoot camera. Today, 2 or 3 years later, did Kodak progress and have they proven their technology is better? Hasselblad and others are using their sensors, so that shows something is right, but Sony is still doing quite well in the business and Panasonic could learn a thing or two.

I just look at medium format film photos and start drooling. Can we have image quality of this level please?

I was at a Sony store just now, and saw a large selection of their lenses. After comparing prices, I can safely say that Olympus lenses are not overpriced.

Overprice is a word wrongly used here... "Olympus" and "overpriced" put together is like saying Land Rover is not a off-road worthy vehicle. That is total rubbish.

If a lens performs badly, or even just so-so, and demands a high price (like some brands we know), then it is overpriced... not worth its value... but a Tatsuno lens?? The bloke who wrote this much be an English major from North Korea or something. And he said this after giving up trying to fix a 14-35mm SWD onto a Nikon camera.

:what:

After having oogled and pixel-peeped so many photos, in the other systems, the only lenses worth their price are prime lenses. :)

And we all know what OTHER primes are like aren't they? ;)

The olympus 7-14mm and 14-35mm SHG lenses are way better than their equivalents in other systems. I can't say much for the 35-100 though. *sigh*

I think the problem is marketing, perception etc.

And also the perennial problem that many users simply cannot accept that you get what you pay for.

Which of those prime lenses are even good wide open? You buy f/1.2, hoping to get a sharp f/1.4, and you buy f/1.4, hoping to get a sharp f/1.8. The f/1.8 lenses are inexpensive and you can only hope to get a sharp f/2.8.

How many people want something for nothing?

They see a great photo and they go to a store expecting to pay $150 to get an equivalent camera that fits in their pocket. When someone tells them that the photo was taken with $1500 of equipment, they say that it's overpriced.

Just a bit ago, I saw someone hawking a Fuji 18x super zoom camera, telling people that they would feel like a professional and take professional quality photos for US$199.99 and you could split that into 4 payments.

I was definitely ready to buy.

.

many who dun know / own the zd 50f2 would say : "why so expensive for an f2 lens? it cost the same as f1.4 for other brands...i can get an f1.8 at 1/3 the price..."
but would they get it sharp wide open or even f2...plus it's a macro...etc
then again, some like it soft wide open for portraits, i do at times depending on my subject, too sharp lens no good:bsmilie:

That's why there is a Healing Brush in Photoshop now--ZD lenses. :bsmilie:

This lens too sharp joke can only arise from Oly users.

Perhaps Oly trademark the phrase... :p
