Yes, you are right. You can see a lot of 20D sale now.

When Canon first introduced USM in 1992, it was around that time that they introduced the EOS100 which had a very quiet shutter and film mechanism - you could hardly hear it rewind.

They seemed to have gone backwards with noise... But yes the 1D Mk 2 is really quiet even on one shot mode.

yes i own this camera too. It was so quiet

the force is strong with the light side

i will wait the next 6 month for 20d price to drop

then make a good kill..hehe

But whatever body you are using now will also fetch a lower price... so hopefully the price of the 20D drops faster than the price of the current body you are using. :)

I love these rumors. So here is my 1 cents worth of speculation - may I stress SPECULATION for the fun of it.

At the lower end - 350D - Canon is facing stiff competition from many other makers, notably Nikon with its D50. So prices will come down drastically.

As for a 20D replacement, there will likely be a small upgrade. Still same 8Mp res, but with Pic Style mode and larger LCD. Lower price. Just above D70 - another success for Nikon - which is also due for an update, probably come Feb '06 time frame as well. This will be consistent with the rumors about 20D from Spanish sites.

In retaliation to the D200, Canon will likely have a Eos 3 like camera in Feb '06. Brick like build, weather sealed but without the bulk of the 1D type bodies. My wish is that it will have a crop factor of 1.3x - so won't eat into 5D market. Res of about 10-12Mp.5 fps. Oh yes, built in flash. This one will be the perfect camera for the larger majority of professionals and serious amateurs who have not or no intention of investing in non EF-S glass. Too bad if you bought the 1Dmk2N.

5D will remain as is. Not a big seller.

Lastly, a single 1D, FF with 16Mp, 8.5 fps. Is there really a need to go towards 22Mp in a 35mm format??? Will the current crop of Canon lenses do justice to that level of resolution?

Happy New Year. Looking forward to Feb.

If the price of a 20D is pushed down to current 10D prices, I'll probably be giving up 35mm film completely. I'm really tired sometimes of the long turnaround time of film. Slides are great but.... tiring.

Resolution wise, I think there really isn't a need for larger resolution. I think a really really good output can already be achieved from an 8MP sensor. I would rather Canon work on things like colour tone and dynamic range, like what fuji has done, rather than image size. I would actually like an S3 pro, 'cept it's F-mount. The 16MP sensor of the 1dsmkII is already bordering on digital MF's res. Way too huge IMO for non-professional people like myself.

.

brother, you should have done that long ago :bsmilie:

if fujifilm wants to patronise the darkside thats their business.

agree that 1DsMKII can take on MF anytime.

The signal is getting stronger and stronger.

So many 2nd hand 20D on sale now before the price plunge. :dunno:

Any views on how much the 20D replacement will priced?

my guess will be about 2.8K for body on the streets. add few hudred to it for RRP to probably 2,999 to keep it under 3K.

good..good...wait for the kill

uppzzz for this good thread

keep the news alive:thumbsup:

Yeah, time to replace my 300D too.
