I love these rumors. So here is my 1 cents worth of speculation - may I stress SPECULATION for the fun of it.
At the lower end - 350D - Canon is facing stiff competition from many other makers, notably Nikon with its D50. So prices will come down drastically.
As for a 20D replacement, there will likely be a small upgrade. Still same 8Mp res, but with Pic Style mode and larger LCD. Lower price. Just above D70 - another success for Nikon - which is also due for an update, probably come Feb '06 time frame as well. This will be consistent with the rumors about 20D from Spanish sites.
In retaliation to the D200, Canon will likely have a Eos 3 like camera in Feb '06. Brick like build, weather sealed but without the bulk of the 1D type bodies. My wish is that it will have a crop factor of 1.3x - so won't eat into 5D market. Res of about 10-12Mp.5 fps. Oh yes, built in flash. This one will be the perfect camera for the larger majority of professionals and serious amateurs who have not or no intention of investing in non EF-S glass. Too bad if you bought the 1Dmk2N.
5D will remain as is. Not a big seller.
Lastly, a single 1D, FF with 16Mp, 8.5 fps. Is there really a need to go towards 22Mp in a 35mm format??? Will the current crop of Canon lenses do justice to that level of resolution?
Happy New Year. Looking forward to Feb.
