I think the excuse that she is young at the time of the crime, doesn't hold enough water. For goodness sake, the time lag between the crime committed and her entering the competition is about a year or less, it is not as if the crime was committed 10 yrs ago or something.
Sending a bipolar person to a competition, is simply to Ris-ky. I wonder who will turn up on the actual day, is it gonna be Ris on a Low or a Ris on a High???
I read that she got sentenced in May thus that would mean that if she joined the pageant before that, she should still be eligible going by the terms & conditions.

Having bipolar disorder is as an excuse? Bipolar disorder has got to do with mood swings. How does mood swing causes people to steal from those in already in need. Even if someone has bipolar disorder, I think they'll have a problem explaining to the judge why he beaten up someone because he's high then.
If she knows what bipolar disorder is, then she'll probably figure out that it is got to do only with mood swings. No matter which extreme end it was, the patient knows exactly what was happening and has full control and will to determine which choice of action to take.

i think to be fair, this is an area that i know little of, i'd give her the benefit of the doubt, seeing how people in the know, i.e. shrinks are diagnosing her with a positive diagnosis.
or are you claiming that they don't know any better, and that they're covering for her? i honestly doubt so.
