Ricoh GXR!

We could request moderator to create one if we have enough interest.

I think we should. It really doesn't belong in the rangefinder subforum because it really isn't one (although it's meant to fit a rangefinder lens). It doesn't really belong to the Pentax forum because it's really 2 different sets of users (although Ricoh acquired Pentax).

we should do so. we could loop in rest of module. not sure how we shall start..let me find out.
do we have a kind soul voluntary to be moderator for ricoh ?

ok, will check with Admin ...... this is not a Mod's call

Personally, I'd hope to see Ricoh forum with the Pentax one. The pooling of ppl into the discussion and knowledge base will make a more vibrant and interesting place for all.

Much agree, but I prefer a ricoh sub forum and not merge. Specific discussions and equipment discussion are key.

so many of us but we dun have much ideas what bag is gd to use, storage, even where to get the best deals. I was hoping we can all gather and leverage our buying purchase on equipment like VF-2 etc.

That'll be really nice to have a Ricoh one.

Thanks, Ed9119 for checking this out with the Admins.

JK,the pooling of ppl who actually own the camera/body/lens into the discussion and knowledge base, will be something I think we want to see. Not really those who's still sitting on the fence.

Certainly welcome constructive inputs from the non-users or fellow mirrorless users, but it's different if you actually own one. E.g. the quirks of the menu buttons, if any! Or is the iso-lo really iso 100? Or what new features or enhancement we need on the next firmware update - ability to just capture RAW and RAW alone, or what about multiple exposures like in the Pentax K DSLRs. A tripod mount that's off-center due to the slim body design and if there's any arca-swiss plates out there that fits it to a T? Or even specific settings for each of the m-mount lens used so that most of us could possibly share or attempt to share these as template settings.

But given NEX 7's popularity in the coming months, and the already established NEX and m43 user base out there, there's a possibility that there really isn't a large enough user base for Ricoh to start its own sub forum.

We can still get these from the various sub-forums, I think, apart from the mass order which I think isn't allowed on equipment sub-forums. But as you have indicated, a ricoh sub-forum's really good to have, and only if we have got a mod that's willing to spend a little of his/her hours to monitor it. It really doesn't just have to be Ricoh GXR or A12 m-mount or A12 28mm, it could include the GRD III or upcoming upgrade in GRD IV.

thanks eddie. Now we see the light of a Ricoh Equipment Discussion Thread.
Thanks, Wong_se for initiating this. Very much appreciated.

It would be nice even if the WTS/WTB sections had a ricoh sub but that would just be a "want", understandably there are few people giving up their grd3 much less a gxr or accessories.
The next best thing is the ricoh forums where Tom Caldwell resides and dishes out setting matrixs and shows us what our gxrs are really capable of.

Though I wish for one in a local prespective n which allows for gatherings and discussion locally.

Easier to cross poison both users if the Pentax and Ricoh forum is combined :D

Ricoh user base if frankly too small.
The downside of it standing alone is a forum that has a trickle of posts a week or worse.
I've seen that on many m4/3 forums (sadly... )

Anyway, I just open my big mouth only, :D
Lets see what the mods can do.

thats a sad true fact, without people contributing...we definitely will see such a stage. With the mainstream of people going for Sony/Nikon/Canon. Ricoh users are really few! Wish we could have more....maybe Ricoh needs to do a BW photo comp and see our cams blow the competition away haha

Sadly, the local distributer decided to raise the price of the GXR + M-mount bundle by >$100, probably due to the unexpected demand. Those who bought earlier really heng ah. :(

that's really a dumb move. We're already such a small community and increasing prices will only squeeze us more. Why don't they market it at this price and get more new users??

I think the funniest part is there's hardly any marketing...

Ricoh distributor is the same company as Sigma's distributor, no?

Sigma lens prices are crazily inflated in SG compared to other countries...

no surprise.

There has to be something about Singaporean distributors poisoning the well just because they have exclusive rights to something.
