Ricoh GXR!

Quirks aplenty with this camera, metering at low light is one, shutter lag another, occasional dust spots (user problem as well), need to restart camera on power saving mode. But yes, understanding it's limitation and finding other ways round it/tolerating if there's no way out.
No AA filter itself gotta beat all the quirks it's ever got...Just imagine price difference of no AA filter on Nikon D800E & D800 is about the price of GXR will get one to appreciate what's in this baby. imho:)

metering ? if its manual lens then you need to use manual mode imho? cmiw

Another one with Canon 50mm f/1.4 LTM

Hahaha ... I think you name a few here that I was a bit surprised initially. But I reckon it's not a really NEW camera and probably time for an upgrade.

I also find it difficult to compose in LCD, in low lighting condition (especially slightly off blue hour), and that's why I am getting a 18mm OVF.

But when you zoom in on the image you shot at 8 times and still find details that you don't usually get from some other cams, at that price point, and at that size (when you carry it for your hols), I really think it's just quirkiness, isn't it. ;-)

ya as you can see the background is not really out of focus, and less light source to create the circle bokeh

A12 mount doesn't meter beyond 1sec in aperture mode for low light/ night shots. Doesn't seem to be for other A12. I would use manual mode in this case and some trial & error.

There is an exposure meter in manual mode, but i find it slightly underexpose, just slightly, not a concern.

Ya, there's in manual mode, more of aperture mode that doesn't go beyond 1s. It does underexpose a little, same observations here.

hey the 24-85mm Mount is already in singapore!

hmmm...f/3.5 - f/5.5! would prefer a faster lens, but may still consider if performance is good, at least can travel with a smaller package.

I've bought the A16 today! It was certainly cheaper than I expected, which made it quite an attractive proposition.

I am going to bring it for my trip to Hungary next week.
Was considering going for broke with the A12 M-mount + Leica WATE but decided that the A16 was much much cheaper, and has a wider zoom range.
And it will save me from having to change lens if I went for A12 M-mount + my current nikon primes. (not to mention having to carry more equipment)

Initial impressions from my test shots at the shop and at home:
1. AF seems slightly faster than the A12 28mm.
2. Images really pop even though it's a "kit lens" -- they have a certain crispness to them. Is it because there is no AA filter?
3. It is lighter than it looks.
4. Good build quality.
5. Smaller and lighter than using A12 M-mount with Nikon lenses.
6. If size isn't an issue, no reason not to choose this over the S10.

Really looking forward to the trip. Will try to post some good shots here!

How about posting some shots here? Especially detail, micro-contrast, or high ISO capabilities?

Ya, noticed that thread, corner IQ quite disappointing, hope that's an isolated case.

Another user, Sean Reid got it. That makes 2 now...
anyways, i feel the price looks too expensive at the moment for me, it has to take a lot on the IQ to convince me even though no AA filter, and the iso is limited at 3200 with kit lens speed, if it's using sony it must be able to do much more than iso3200.

Sorry hjbyeo, don't really have time (or the interest) to do a proper review ; all I can say is, ISO-wise I would say it's on par with A12 28mm, micro-contrast I think it seems to be slightly better than the A12 28mm, that was what I meant when I said the images seem to pop. I've used the A12 28mm for 1.5 years so I'm quite familiar with what it can do. Not sure if it's my mind playing tricks on me, but it's somewhat reminiscent of the images produced by my recently-acquired CZ 100mm f2 ZF.

Will post some shots soon though.

Yes, I read about those reviews last night, so was naturally cautious.
I tested the lens before I bought it, and I don't see any issue with corner sharpness at full aperture. I suppose those were bad samples, which is unfortunate.
