Here's a list of popular camera shops in SG. The price of Ricoh GR Digital III should be around S$960 (by Cash), or S$1000 (by Credit Card). Some of the shops will throw in freebies like Ricoh leather case, neck strap and 8GB SD card.

Thank You. I just called Cathay and got the price. It seems much more expensive than it is in China (RMB 3900 = S$ 800). Maybe I can ask my friend buy me one and post it here. HAha. But I really wish that I can use it now.

I'm in the market for a good quality compact sized camera now...I got an overseas reservist training and its not practical for me to bring a full sized dSLR along. Don't even know whether it's allowed! LOL.

Anyways I checked out the GRD III yesterday along with the Canon s90 and g11. GRD III handles wonderfully and the ergonomics are excellent. I saw some full blown files online, and although the sensor size of the GRD III is same as the s90 and g11, the GRD III has so much more detail and contrast.

Real nice.

If I were to get one, I'd probably turn off the LCD most times and use an external viewfinder.

I'm also anxiously waiting on the Sigma dp2s at the moment. :D

EVF works very well on GRDIII, that I can confirm. This is because the AF is fast and there is a green illuminator on the edge of the camera just below your eyeball which tells you when AF is achieved.

But imho, the GRDIII LCD is so good (920k pixel) that you do not really need EVF unless you are in an environment with extreme light. Having the EVF someone makes the camera unnecessary bigger. Ideally, you want to keep your GRDIII as compact as possible (to fit in your pocket), and it is to my mind the ultimate stealth camera for street photograph. With the small size, black color, and snap function, you can whip it out, snap, and walk - your subject won't even know you took a candid. For a good illustration of this, google search for Mitch Alland (malland)'s work on rangefinder forums and in dpreview.http://theonlinephotographer.typepa...-ricoh-gr-digital-iii-at-iso-1600-for-bw.html

To street photographers, GRDIII has a great feature which is its gritty high ISO look that gives the old film impression. It is something that other compacts do not have.

If you have considered S90, G11, then other cameras in this category you may consider are also Pana LX3, Leica X1, Ricoh GXR, Pana GF1, Olympus EPL1 and EP2, and Samsung NX10.

You'll love the dof scale on the live view if you do alot of landscape. It tells you where the focus starts and ends.

Thanks for the recommendations, I skipped the M43 cameras as I'm not looking at an interchangeable lens system.

Just a high quality compact sized camera, fast lens, and prefably a larger sensor :D

Leica X1 is out of my league though, furthermore I'm not too impressed by the reviews and samples online so far.

Most likely it's a fight between the GRD III and the upcoming Sigma DP2s!

Dear all Ricoh GRD III users,

May I know how's the battery life of this wonderful DC?

Dear GRD users,

Pls let me know if u have an external viewfinder to let go. I m looking for a viewfinder for my GRD III. prefer GV-2 :)
thanks a lot.

Hi,

it seems no one bring out this again. I discovered my GRD3 have the same problem. I called up Ricoh and manage to persuade one of the support staff to do a test for me. It proven to be a problem and worsen then i thought (he manage to reproduce it consistantly and the result is more obvious than my test).

He advice me to sent in my unit for calibration. If any interest in this topic, kindly let me know so i will continue to update.

Note: he also advice new buyer to test first, because if same problem found can immediately swap for a new set. but if only discover after one month, then can only repair

sorry i forgot to quote

Hi I would like to know whether you guys experience the macro focus behavior similar to the link,

http://www.ricohforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=3104.

My friend and I have this behavior for our GRD III.

Is it normal?

Thanks
