Sanfong, what are the items that is so disappointed ? Even if you compare GR Club with others club (by different brand) in Singapore as benchmark, some are charging more on membership fees whilst offer almost no free sign up gift.

GR Club is a standalone club, 100% owned by the members. It is not like you buy camera from country ABC, you have more free gifts. Read about the club concept of my above thread. Together if we can form a strong Ricoh user community, we could provide more to our members.

But I was hoping the red neck strap and ring were given as sign up free gifts. As in some countries these items were given as package with the purchase of the camera. I'm disappointed by the fact that newly signed up member get to choose either one only...:dunno:

Pardon my saying but I don't think that is a fair statement to make. AFAIK, only Taiwan has larger quantity (but still limited) of GR bundles with the ring and strap, outside of Japan. Malaysia was around 30 sets. The rest of the world? None. Now GRClub Singapore tries to let its members have a chance to get hold of either item. Perhaps the restriction of choice was to let the members choose which item they really value and really want to get, rather than leaving it aside to gather dust.

Perhaps later when the GRClub starts to grow and have its presence felt by Ricoh Japan, then we will see "Singapore Limited" bundles available

For the time being, let's just look beyond this and grow the local Ricoh community. I want to see a Ricoh Party here in Singapore!

I had joined GR Club Singapore,because i believe only GRs owners would bring life to this new club. As i am new to GRs, i definitely would benefit from the seasoned GRs users and would really appreciate advise/tips/contributions from them.

Clearly I see that the club laid down rules policies that the club should be run independently and by the GRs owners, perhaps during the initial stage setting up the GR Club, APD helped, and the impression to me then was that GR Club Singapore was set up by APD.

A pioneer committee of a few known seasoned and old birds in local photography scene has been put in place to get this club going, and that is a good start. Perhaps many of us including myself have been disappointed with APD not able to provide the Red ring n neck strap as free gifts for early adopters of the GRV, such is the case now is, that disappointment has somehow overflowed into GR Club.

So my take on this is in agreement with Randius to look beyond, and add that the APD disappointment should be resolved by APD and not to expect new GR Club to answer for APD. Lets hope if when new GXR2 system comes out, APD would have a chance to redeem its position which I am sure would be high on their agenda.

That is a different story, like comparing a fruit to a vehicle. Whether or not the free gift is given as part of the GR sales, has nothing to do with the GR Club. Imagine you are to setup a club for GR user, what can you come up ? Would you be kind enough to throw in some capital and financial resources and make some good offer to the members ?

Again, GR Club is a club owned by the member, which is run independently by the committee member who are in interest to promote the user based and in the interest of the members. Ricoh cam is unique, Ricoh user is dare to be different. GR club may also be the 1st club (associated with particular camera brand) to run fully by the member. Come and join us it is our chance to put up a strong community.
