Ricoh GR

The camera comes w/ a 28mm equivalent wide angle lens, has a minimum focus distance of 10cm in macro mode. It won't be easy to get any bokeh unless the subject is pretty close. If you are looking at super creamy bokeh, better look for something else I guess. But the bokeh isn't bad in macro mode or for close distance subjects.

The camera is made in China.

Thanks.

got mine yesterday.. finally.. the AF seems not as snappy as my GRD4 but not complaining (much).. bought it for snap focus / TAV mode mainly..

now to wait for the colored rings to zhng!

Before anyone starts buying colored rings, just to warn that using the hood and adapter or the GW3 requires the ring to be removed. I have left the ring permanently off. :(

Anyone can post pics of the filter adapter and hood attaché to the GR? Thinking of buying one to protect the lens..

Anyone? Why no reply? :/

Coming coming must take photos first. Here ya go.

Naked - notice the huge rear glass element of the GW3, and also the ring is off from the GR.

With the hood and adapter. Hood goes back into the box - the adapter alone makes a good hood anyway, and even without the adapter the recessed lens element has a hood around it already. Just for the GW3.

With the GW3. Rubber hood goes back in box. It is a pain for the GW3 to screw on to the adapter.

The hood is quite tricky to put on the adapter. It took me close to a minute to find the alignment spot and click in. No apologies for my ugly gaffered-up GR.

To sum-up - don't buy the hood and adapter just for the hood and adapter alone. It's pointless. Only if you are using the GW3 wide converter, then buy the hood+adapter. My GW3 is always attached to the adapter now, and comes on/off the GR as one. Both hoods are left back in box, along with the ring.

bro, when i used the grd iv, the original rubber grip is stained with dirt and what-not... if taped, don't know if the adhesive will be transferred onto th grip?

I saw the GV-1 at TK Foto last week. Didn't ask price though as my heart is weak.

As to the gaffer, there's a reason - my wife has a bad habit of checking out prices of the cameras I buy, and using it as nego leverage. I told her it's the GRD IV, only $380. I peeled off the price tag if the GW-3, but left the price tag of the hood+adapter on - she thinks the damn thing costs $90 only. :)

Heya, change the gaffer every 3 months. I don't bother. If adhesive is transferred use Zippo lighter fluid to remove. That stuff works wonders for adhesive removal of all types.

HAHA! Cunning but nicely played!! thanks for the tip i'll check TK out.. i bought my set from Alan Photo though and they didnt have the VF in stock anymore..

do you use the OVF all the time? do you have to make any adjustments since it isnt parallax corrected?

The OVF works as a general guide to framing and über fast street photography. Anything nearer than 2m is guaranteed off, anything further is usually spot on with excess around the framelines pf this Voigtlander 28mm.

The primary advantage is not to frame the pic, but as a quick "ooooh chio bu!" pick up make sure she's in the centre and blurb continuous. Crop later in PP without the wife seeing.

I know, I'm such a scum. Haha.

thanx bro... nice trick on that gaffer tape... that makes wonders too... LOL!!!

Personally i dun like to use ovf bcos it attract attention n increase the size n always worried the glasses will get scratched or knocked. I like to take shot with lcd makes me look like tourist n noob. Nobody cares about what im holding. :) Another thing is tat i hate the extra space around the framelines, its too confusing n distracting.

Ovf comes useful only when shooting at night when lcd cant show anything at all. Else i avoid using it, and just use the stock handstrap tats it no other accessories.

Hope it help you to spend uneccessary. :)

Just say gr is the first version before gr2,3 or 4 is out. So is cheapest of the lot.

Has a spare set. Anyone interested can PM me :)
