Ricoh GR

Yes grd 3 n 4 n lx are using the same batteries. So chargers are crossed use as well. Have tried it before.
:)

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!

Is that only for the LX1, LX2 and LX3 ... i think in the later versions they chipped the batteries?

I have a question about using snap focus..

When I set the focus mode to snap focus and press the shutter.. Somehow the camera will try to AF as if I half pressed the shutter..

Is there any settings I missed out or my technique is wrong?

Hmm .. I don't seem to have this problem. Need to understand more parameters ... shooting mode, etc.

Update on Batts charger -
Lumix Panasonic Battery Charger (BE-A42) - output rated at DC 4.2V, 0.8A
Ricoh BJ-6 Battery Charger - rated at output DC 4.2V, 800mA

It's not bug just the camera going into the 2.5m focus mode for u to snap.

now this makes sense.. will try to see whether it happens for every shot or just the 1st shot after setting distance..

update:
yup bro you are right..
the camera is going into the set distance..

Let example: your snap focus distance is set at 2m. When you are in AF mode how could you know what is the distance the lens currently focus on? It should be focusing some where between 10cm to infinity and most of the time not at 2m. When you change to Snap focus mode, you can easily see that the lens still not moving at all. Just only when you press the shutter, the lens start moving from it current focus distance to the 2m distance that you set. From now on, if you press the shutter again for another shot, you could see that the lens will not moving at all cause currently it is focusing at 2m. That's how Ricoh Snap Focus work.

That's how Ricoh Snap Focus work.

new to ricoh..
thanks..

another question..
is it possible to have the snap focus bar on display all the time?..

cause it usually appears for a few secs then it will go off..

update:
got my answer after meddling with the menu system..

it will be always on only in Av,, TAv and M mode..

was shooting in Tv mode that's why the focus bar disappeared..

I use Tav a lot on Pentax cameras and was glad to have it on the GR but the camera does not allow auto iso-high to be set in Tav. That means I cannot set the max iso limit in Tav mode and the camera goes even to 25,600 in evening shots. Not sure what's the rationale behind this.
Any workaround for this?

The WA adapter GW-3 (and hopefully the GH-3 too) will be available locally by next weekend according to my regular dealer. No idea what is the local price is going to be though. But better start saving now or take out a bank loan if necessary as the GW-3 and GH-3 cost RM720 and RM250 respectively across the causeway and the agent is the same for both markets. ;)

To use GW-3 will need the GH-3 right?

nice strategy, make the killing on add-ons & accessories

The image quality produce by this camera is amazing. Reminds me of my Leica M9.
