I just ordered, got a confirmation from online store, entitled to free gift.

What's the appeal of the red ring? Thought the idea is for our GRs to be as discreet as possible? :bsmilie:

Maybe more for ppl have more than 1 GR to recognized their camera?!

This news link was posted to help our local distributor come to realization that the right free gifts can help and it is a good way to reward Ricoh loyalists like you gentlemen! Anyway it is limited edition and limited availability and limited to first 60 online customers only !
If there was a bundled special price for GR+GH3+GW-3 , it would be another way of rewarding early adopters ( not me) but many who had already bought the GR now waiting and hunting for GV-2 and GW-3 an GH-3.

The 2 year support is interesting but I can care less about the freebies (that's stated here). ;-)
I don't think the price is that different, and my initial thoughts is this may just be a case of retail shops in Singapore trying to cash in on its popularity right now.
You can certainly buy a Japan unit and a Malaysian unit. I don't know where their service center is, but if there's a problem with your camera, and if it's under warranty, I would prefer it supported locally if the slight difference is a small price to pay for ease of mind. I don't particularly enjoy the long jams, and the rides up North just so that I can service a compact.
Oh, Anyone's using 3rd party chargers? How much are these? Am I the only one here who likes the batteries charged off a separate charger.

The rings (from the first stainless steel to the most recent chrome red) were never really meant for easy recognition but to add a difference in style, to individualize the camera. For some people, owning a piece of limited good also adds to the joy. It just feels weird when buyers in other countries can have a chance to own it, but here in Singapore, we don't even have slightest chance at all... Is the sales volume of GRD so small in Singapore that the distributor doesn't have any power to negotiate for the items?

Someone here claim that it's the same with GRD3. And GRD 3 is the same as GRD 4!

Yes grd 3 n 4 n lx are using the same batteries. So chargers are crossed use as well. Have tried it before.
