Ricoh GR Digital users fall in!

If you want performance go for DSLRs. If you want something worth your money get Fuji F31fd or the newer F50fd. If you want style go for GRD. Good camera design and build, Legendary GR lens, and may i stress Excellent Noise and colours.

but it is also prone to problems as many users have experienced Lens stuck, or unable to switch to M-mode sometimes, or camera hang and need restart. And of course expensive (you can easily buy a DSLR for the same price). But this camera is also the only camera that i have seen Owners switching to newer GRDs after the old one spoil (very rare for owners to buy the same camera again as they usually try other brands etc) and also die-hard GR fans who have GR, GR1 etc and buy the GRD and will buy the GRD2 when it is released.

Price for a great camera... $1000+
The love the fans have for Ricoh and the GR-series... Priceless

wow! what a nice cosmic capture.

guys i need couple of advise here ... i am looking at buying this camera but after reading the review.... im kinda confused and wasnt really impressed. pls enlighten me.

reviews were saying that GR has soft output compared to the likes of powershot s80 and other 8meg pixel.

Its really sad to read the comments below :

Firstly the GR-D's output is a little on the soft side (you can make things look a lot crisper if you use software sharpening, but you're not going to get a lot more detail). It's also - for such a wide lens - surprisingly consistent from edge to edge, with little (if any) drop off in sharpness at the corners. Color is accurate and subtle (much more so than the Canon), and overall the impression is that the GR-D is avoiding the 'over-processed' look common to most compact digital cameras. Of course this means the results are a touch noisier and less 'punchy' (and as mentioned, softer) than many competitors.

To be honest I was expecting something a little more impressive from the GR-D; these images are lacking in 'bite' and if you sharpen then you start to see noise, which limits what you can do with the JPEG output.

Trust your gut feel

Dpreview slammed the GRD big time as well when they reviewed it...from what i can see, more and more ppl using GRD and GX100 these days :)

Which is better GRD or GX100 ? I dont see much comparison on these both cameras.

I dont think the GRD2 will be out any sooner.

I am stuck into these 2 models now ... was reading that the GX100 is a good buy

I was actually comparing the 2 models above with Canon Powershot G9.

Wow all this is really splitting my brain cells

GX100 is newer.

GX100 has wider lens at 24mm..and zoom if you need it. GRD is fixed at 28mm.

Both still got the same noise issue above ISO400. But as im sure you have read, alot of ppl actually love the noise it produces.

As a GRD user myself....i'd recommend my friends to get GX100 too.

The choice is yours. :)

how abt in terms of lens quality from the GX and the GR ? is there any news on the upcoming model of the GR ?

Does the 10 pix from GX and 8 pix from GR differs alot ?

what are their competitors ? Leica D-LUX 3

Its true DSLR is better in terms of performance but my main objective is the get something similar to the performance

as i do have problem dealing with DSLR due the their size or so.

No, i do not think that the Ricoh or any other 'high-end' compact camera can get similar performance to a dslr, period. The only thing close to a dslr for the ricoh..is the handling.

i personally do not see much difference btw GRD and GX100 in terms of lens or sensor.

Imho...there is nothing else like the GX-100.
D-lux3 might be close....but they are different things.

You should make a decision on what YOU want...not what reviews say.
Go try out the camera in the shop.

Can you try and explain a little.

Thanks

doesnt matter...just go try it out at the shops.

im already a ricoh user..so i might be biased!! (though i very much like the design of the D-Lux3 too)

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/com...oh_gx100,ricoh_grdigital,leica_dlux3&show=all

do note.....D-Lux 3....u cannot have additional accessories like wide angle lens, use filters and all that (unless u DIY). thats one major difference if u ask me.

If i had a choice, i would have BOTH GX/GR and D-LUX3
