I think it happens when I change focus mode... Like one of the bugs whereby you change the focus mode but the focusing "square" does not change in size and focus type, ie remains in the previous focusing mode until you on and off the camera, except that my problem is that it doesn't even focus and makes some electronic sounds...

Just got my hands on this camera. Have been a little skeptical about what this compact can do but have so far been pleasantly surprised by the firmware and menus.
