Review Samsung NX10

Good evening people!

Exciting news. A firmware upgrade to the NX10 has been announced in the Korean website. The update should work for models in English language as well, but watch www.samsungimaging.com for the official English file soon.

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1001&thread=36555916

As I understand it, the new update includes the following.

1. Enabled i-Function
2. Improved AF
3. GPS module can be used.
4. Feature to correct lens distortion.
5. Improved Noise, WB, IQ

I found that they updated the auto ISO behaviour with the NX10+30mm. Previously, it will only increase ISO up to 400 before dropping shutter speed to 1/15 which was not useable.

now NX10 will increase the ISO up to 800 which was my target anyway. A programmable ISO/shutter speed limit would be better but at least now the auto ISO is useable in my book.

Ever since i bought my NX10, the mode dial has been set to only 1 option: 'M'.

So whether the firmware affects Smart Auto does not concern me in the least.

As for noise, i usually compensate by overexposing by 2/3 of a stop before taking it to GIMP for some toning down. And keeping my max ISO to only 800 helps somewhat.

All in all, the only thing which interests me in this update is probably the iFn support.

Thanks for the heads up, I am now uploading to my NX10. :)

My field report for NX10 is up now. Hopefully it will be helpful to those who are sitting on the fence.

Field report here.

Passed by MS Color's AMK Hub branch and saw that they were also selling the NX5 alongside the NX10 and NX100.

Wasn't the NX5 supposed to be for Korean and European markets only? Anyway, even if i had a chance to get an NX5 now, i probably would not get it: the AMOLED screen on the NX10 and NX100 is just too appealing to trade it off for an NX5 which uses a standard LCD screen.

hey really interested to get the samsung nx10. was trying out it at vivo's samsung. not bad for a 30mm pancake f/2.

maybe it's time for me to retire my canon 400d, cause dont do serious photography for business now, more for hobby. anyone can confirm if mscolor selling the cheapest? =)
