2. EF-s 17-55 f2.8 is gonne be very tempting.
3. best of all, the price looks good.

USD1150 for EF-S 17-55/2.8 IS.. hmm

it's kinda like the upgrade between the MKII and the MKIIn. Not a fantastic amount of difference in the heart, but more so on the exterior. I hope the new releases pushes down the price of both the 85/1.2L MKI and the 20D. Would open up more avenues for purchase.

after all the hype that has been built up, i'm kinda disappointed with the new cam cos in many ways it's just like the 20D.

Check out the below... I wonder why was it highlighted? Tot it's the same :dunno:

"AE/AF lock remains set if shutter is kept half-pressed between shots"

aiyah, if u had used the wireless (IR actually) ETTL2 more than casually, you would quickly realize the limitations of being prone to glare and needing line of sight....isnt the nikon system wireless (RF based?)
Nikon also by light. Only Tunster's current MO is triggered by RF.. :bsmilie:

what kind of flash capabilities the canon system lack of? Wireless ETTL has been around since 1998 while Nikon only introduced CLS 6 years later :dunno:

 wow! i didn't know that! I thought Nikon and all the CLS tech was leader in the market. i feel so..:bheart:
aiyah .. got better than dun have.. better late than never.. :blah:

the people who are happy are the 20D owners huh :)

But lets hope the 30D pricing will be realistic. Hope canon singapore learnt their lesson with their sky high 5D pricing. I thought it was REALLY unfair to the early adopters of 5D. I know electronics stuff depreciate but not in 6 months. The reason for the price drop was mainly due to the unrealistic pricing of the 5D.

Hopefully, they will price the 30D similar in price to the 20D. Maybe $2.4k like in the US.

Any news on the Singapore pricing?

"ISO can be set without taking one's eye away from the viewfinder "

Now, that's one giant leap!:bsmilie:

i like this one..
"simultaneously apply long exposure noise processing to one picture while capturing another "

with the limited improvements lets just hope the pricing will be cheap. Else there is always the D200. One thing about nikon Singapore is that they usually give better pricing than Canon singapore. Not comparing which camera is better, just that the nikon singapore DSLR price is closer to what you can get overseas usually.

If the price is close to current 20D price, why not? With a bigger LCD, better image review, and improved AF algorithm. But if they price it close to D200 price, :dunno:

if optically it is comparable to nikons 17-55 f2.8, then the pricing is REALLY attractive.

did the review talk about the shutter sound?

get used to it - all rumours before the real thing gets officially released to the press. I wonder how they keep everyone so quiet though - must be thousands of folks who handle the 30D logos including some ah pek at some printing shop....

the only thing the new 17-55 lens is missing is the RED line, it has 2 UD lenses. its like the first constant 2.8 zoom lens not to spot the Luxury red line!

i'm excited about the 30D, anyones wants my 20D? $1600 and its yours with kit lens

i'm in fact more crazy over the new 85L, it will match my new style of photojournalism photography. I have little confidence that the non1 series bodies will make the old85L lens harder and slower to focus for my type of action journalistic style photography. now i can really ditch the 1DmkIIn in favour of 5D and 30D with 20,24,35,50 1.4 and 851.2 and 135f2 and ditch my zoom lenses to B&S.

anyone interested in 24-70 2.8 and 17-35 2.8? selling soon in a forum near you!

Seems like in general that most pple are kinda disappointed by the specs of the new cam. Like i said earlier, at 1st glance it's really disappointing but until a proper review is written on a production model, I won't say it's not good. Oh if anyone wants to sell their stuff...........let me know.hehehehhe Looking for batt grip hahaha

I think there are 2 camps of similar size actually.. those that are disappointed because they think its too similar and those who are excited because they think the new features are good and the price is good too.

i'm not sure how many here have used a 2.5inch screen before but i have and i can tell ya that it can be alot more useful for reviewing photos. its much better when showing the photos to someone else also using a big screen.

the new AF algorithm is another important improvement. sharper pictures in less time is always desirable for most photographers.

all said, i belong to the camp that thinks the 30D is yet another good sign of progress by Canon.

The street price of a 20D with kit lens on www.bhphoto.com has now dropped to US$1280. This is similar enough to the street price in Singapore now, about S$2400.

The recommended retail price of the 30D kit on the website is US$1399, so its probably going to be only $200-$300 more than a 20D kit.

It makes sense for the 30D kit to be priced around S$2600 to S$2800 since Canon will want to undercut Nikon's new D200 kit on price, which is about S$3200 now I think.

Under S$3000 for the 30D will be a very good deal for all its enhancements, especially the 2.5 inch LCD!!! oooohh....
20D only selling at around SGD$1k+ in US...while 350D is less than $1k...great news for those going to US...

U can get cheapest DSLR cam from US and most ex from UK...that explain why their exchange rate are the same. US vs UK

Agreed..to me, the upgrade from 1.8" LCD to 2.5" LCD is the greatest jump...almost ditch away my 1Dmk2 (2") for the mk2n(2.5")...but too bad...no one willing to offer my price...so change my target to 5D or 30D with 2.5" LCD! I will lost a 30D if I change my mk2...phew...
