But not sure if we are allowed to take photos there or not, got security guards around one leh

Gosh! I din know much abt that place though but will like to check it out myself. Especially those old and abandoned ones, if any. Most probably will go on this coming Sunday and perhaps can do some street photography in Chinatown area thereafter. :)

redstone... do u know where are the remiaining godowns left along the SIngapore river? Exact location or if u have a map thats even better :D Thanks

The sole godown untouched by urban redevelopment is at Muthuraman Chetty Road.

Two little godowns painted reddish pink.

They are to be redeveloped soon. Had been bought over by SC Global.

Mackenzie Road is gone. The facade has been demolished. But it's supposed to be part of a conservation and restoration project. Yeah right, just like the restored shophouses of Chinatown. Or perhaps there's hope, since it's so near Niven Road-- expats will be lining up in droves to rent them, once the restoration is done.

Only the part beside Niven Road is a Conservation Area.
Now a new condo is rising behind the shophouses.

Scaffolding hides the facades. The rear had been demolished, the facade is preserved. Construction accessed by the alley.

The part near the rear gate of Istana is going to be demolished.

Inside the SGH compound includes two National Monuments, the College Of Medicine Building and Tan Teck Guan Building.

College Of Medicine Building looks kinda like City Hall.
Now occupied by MOH.

SIT estates

The SIT is Singapore Improvement Trust, the housing and development authority in the colonial days.

Currently not many SIT estates remain.

Some of them are at:

Tiong Bahru (possiblily the biggest intact SIT estate)
Rochor House, (Short Street Blks 11 & 12, in danger of demolition)
Kampong Bahru
Old Airport Estate (only some left but they had been conserved)
Queenstown (very scattered, I can hardly identify)
Redhill Close
Selegie House

Go Jalan Tan Tock Seng and Madalay Road.

Also at Bassien Road there's a ruin of a burnt out old colonial house.

Any information regarding them, are any of these SIT flats deserted due to SERS or something?

The Rochor House is currently empty from SERS.

Also have some abandoned, hoarded up SIT blocks at Boon Tiong Road area, in Tiong Bahru.

I had already suggested the Rochor House (built in 1957 or so) for conservation.

I myself is trying hard to find the remaining SIT estates.
I need help!!!!

Kusu Island indeed is a very nice island... Not much people will go there unless lunar 9th month or something... Nice beaches compared to other beaches in Singapore... Got a temple that worship turtle, sort of a lagoon thingy, breakwater... blah.. quite some time never go liao...

St John Island more things to see. :)

Well I know not much abt old flats but regarding old buildings, I happened to recall of one place i.e. Mitre Hotel, 145 Killiney Road. That place looks like a junk yard to me, pretty messy. I went there once for day shoot, wandering around the premises for some interesting subjects to shoot. A couple of weeks ago I went there with 2 friends at night, one week before Christmas. The place is really creepy and some odd things happened there.

I'm still wondering if that place is still functioning as a hotel and renting out room for "tourists". Is it haunted or some sort?

redstone, do you have any clues or knowledge abt this place? :)

P.S. here's the map to Mitre Hotel:

Yes, I've heard of it! ;)

It's now simply called 145 Killiney Road. No longer Mitre Hotel. ;)

Yes! :D

Had also suggest many many others, some had already been accepted and the buildings preserved.

One even had it's fate reversed. Once planned for demolition, now a National Monument.

Had also suggested Istana Woodneuk and Chee Guan Chiang House for preservation.
Next up on my list, Atbara and 7 Gallop Road.

I'll go email the PMB and URA now. :bsmilie:

any abandoned railway track/station to shoot? i've always wanted to shoot such subjects.
