also there is an 15-25/2.8 wide angle zoom lens![]()
Find out why this thing is a joke.
261mp?Don't count on it.They're using their standards of measurement instead of the standard standards.
And so much more:bsmilie:
Thus I said,go read up more on it.
You're not going to extract much cushy information to fall on if you're just bitting one piece of this review off a single person.
I've nothing against RED.
Read and then judge.

No one's talking about the man in the street buying a 6 x 17 sensor camera my friend... pass some of what you're snorting over my man!:bsmilie:
Don't know what you're talking about... I don't think you also know what we're talking about when we raise the RED...
Basically, RED has cracked the video + still imaging solution with a price point that is considered very reasonable... and this means that the technology is now there to apply to small sensors found on DSLRs... and we would likely see a convergence of video + still imaging on a consumer level product very soon... and at a price point that will be very acceptable to the man in the street...
You should really read the commentaries by seasoned pros both in the video and still image industry... they're basically saying that RED has basically muscled in on the pro video market cos their camera (at $40k) costs a fraction of what a pro video camera would cost (with interchangeable lenses to boot) and still provide superb image quality... so pro makers like SONY (market leader) had better watch out... and what's more, the camera takes superb still images unlike the pro video cameras that are currently available...
That's the hype!

Soon?
Still image and video is already being incorporated into consumer DSLRS.Thought at it's infant stage,it only need more R&D and work by these giants.
Back to You!
The kind of implementation at the current moment is neither here nor there... as SONY has clearly indicated that it did not implement video or liveview as it is currently not satisfied with current technology and its implementation... if you read the video implementation for the Nikon D90, you will know that it's really a gimmick more than a very useful feature. Also as the sensors heat up very fast with video, you get lots of noise and the video quality degrades... so there is a trade-off between image quality and FPS still at the consumer level... we're talking of convergence and at high quality... the next wave in photography/videography...
RED has shown the way, that it is possible to get stunning still image quality plus super high quality video with very good bokeh, DOF effects of an SLR in their hybrid system. The DSLR lenses are the envy of many film makers cos of the very shallow DOF possible... the way digital video cameras are made, very shallow DOF can only be done using lots of tricks (meaning a lot of planning) and not inherently like what we get on full frame DSLRs... or even APS-C DSLRs.
Independent film makers are going to RED in droves cos it's pretty cost effective and and the videos produced by the RED are as good as the more expensive studio cameras which they can't afford. I believe Scarlet will be even cheaper with the same versatility as the RED ONE.
Why are you talking about sony? The image industry doesn't revolve around Sony soley but the 4 major players-SOny,JVC,Nikon and Canon. As to whether the Video feature on D90 is a gimmick or not, that's for you to write in to their marketing department.
The point is-Video has been incoporated into the consumer DSLR as oppose to what you said about waiting for Video technology to be seen in consumer DSLR.
Having said that, since Video technology has ALREADY been incorporated into DSLR and being marketed, all that is needed now is for them to refine it.The technology is there, they have the fundementals.
Your argument is totally null.Just because D90 or MKII doesn't have better Video quality and Sony feels that their CURRENT Video quality isn't up to their desired standard doesn't mean they don't posesse the technology.
Even the very fact that they are able to incorporate lousy video quality, stands that fact.
Sony, nikon and Canon have the technology.
So a person isn't a badminton player until he has partake in the olympic games right?Assuming we go by your warped logic.
And the basis of your argument is?
man.. it looks like a weapon. can it fire missiles?
Oh btw, if you read the link that Giorgio attached... the lowest price is a paltry US$2500 for a professional level product.... WOW! No wonder everyone has sat up and taken note... and also it's modular... first in the world I guess... can change mount some more!!!!![]()
First you said you wanted to see Sony,Canon and Nikon incorporate Video into consumer DSLR and after I've proved to you they did,you decide to use their lack of high quality Video as a smoke screen.
The thing is you don't read.$2500USD is merely the SENSOR.THE BRAIN BEHIND THE SILICON CHIP.
After that, you need the modular, lenses etc etc.
Do you still think it cost a mere $2500USD ONLY?
:bsmilie:
Oh this thing looks innovative. Even allows u to add on and configure it. But looks expensive and bulky. heh, not for the faint hearted simple users like me :bsmilie:
RED DSLR coming,,,
also a NIKON flagship coming too...
i think A900 price will drop at least 1/3![]()
Yeah it looks very complicated... but I guess if this technology allows you to take very high quality video and still images in a very user-friendly package, it would be very attractive right? No need to lug a video cam and a DSLR around... no need to convert miniDV files...
I'm just waiting for such a product cos I need both in my journaling whenever I take a school trip with students... reduce the hassle of logistics and post-processing...
You're quite a quarrelsome fellow aren't you??? And since you must win the discussion right... hahaha... ok you win lar... and please quarrelsome people not welcome on the SONY board... if you read our threads, we're not really into winning arguments... we prefer to discuss the issue... so if you need to pick a fight, please do it somewhere else...
