red light district in geylang?

Well... TS can invest in a 600mm or better still... a 800mm lens + a cropped sensor body... so he can snipe to his heart's content. And when people saw him... that 800mm focal length should give him enough headstart to run.

Worse come to worse, use that 800mm lens as a very expensive club to fend off attackers. (Well... life is more important than camera, rite?)

This is a good ... :bsmilie:

Find a 800mm f1.2 IS/VR that weights 300g with a FF camera that weights 250g, camouflage you and your camera and hid in some trees... C=

Just kiddin bro.. not worth the risk

yes you can,
move in there stay with them for a few months,
eat the same food, do the same thing, sleep at the same place,
let them feel that you are one of them, not a invader or intruder,
when the time is right, you can get all the shots than nobody ever think of.

that is how wild life photographers do, and that is a jungle out there.

I like this.

wow you have guts
im interested to shoot there too
lemme know if you're going lol

Here are some hard facts of life:

1) You have a legal right to shoot whatever you want in a public place.
2) People have no legal right to grab you and beat you up, or smash your camera if you take pictures that they do not want taken, or they think that you took pictures that they did not want taken, but they still have a choice to do so.
3) In a court of law you would probably come up tops, but some physical injuries can last a long time, some will never go away.

So you can go, fulfill your interest, live your dreams, just keep in mind that there are loads of people there who might not want their photograph taken, e.g. people who do not want their wives to find out they are there, people who do not want their friends to find out what they work as, people who do not want to be seen in such a place. In short, my sense is that in Geylang, you would find a lot more people willing to ignore the fact that they have no legal right to do things to you. :)

Cheers.

If you guys insist of going to shoot with your camera,by all means. No one is going to stop you cos the place have already change and most of the houses there are china woman. Also the OKT are not very polite. You better thinks twice about it cos what you've spend is your hard money and saving on your camera gear unless you're very rich.

i would think you might get more interesting images shooting the fruit sellers on the other side

I do agree with you rather than shooting other side.

I think better not cos that place have change. Now the thai girls are getting lesser.China girls are getting more.Unless you're tired of living.

Frankly... what is it with you? If you want to say prostitute or escort or whatever, by all means. Can you stop bringing in national and people of that nation into this topic? Do you knowing it is really rude and uncall for? You are making it sound as if all women from China who happen to be in this country or whatever country are doing this business.

Good idea... but must be very strong willed... later, ask price and found it very cheap... then tempted... and do wrong thing :(

Frankly, from what i observe, there is only 1 person in Singapore who is able to do this, and maybe coming out alive is bro TungTung :p:p:p

Not only come out alive, but made new friends as well! :bsmilie:

please let us know when you're going for the shoot, we'll "help you pick up" your gears when you start running :bsmilie:

Seriously, BAAAAD idea. Many years back, I was shooting one of the buildings there, paid job by the building owner, he had to ask one of his "friend" who's working around that area to escout me and even than I had people coming up to me and asking me in a not very nice manner "what the f**k you're shooting", my bodyguard told them I'm shooting the building and ask them to go away.

so you do your maths, is the photo worth the risk?

If we are Chinese, most our Ah Gong Ah Mah all are from China, so please be carefully, and be sensitive not to be too generalize about the nationality.
