Rechargeable Batteries

Hi, can ordinary chargers be used for Eneloops or does one need to use special Eneloop chargers?

erm... i've been using my old GP charger for the eneloops but not sure if there are going to be any side effects on the batteries...

I threw out all my standard NiMH rechargeable batteries (including one 2700 mAh set from Maha) after I got my Eneloop batteries. For me, there's NOTHING more important than battery ability to hold charge over long periods of time (~ 1 month).

anyone got any experience wif sony rechargeable batteries? :)

Use their own chargers. U buy the charger that can charge 4 batts and comes with 2 batts, only $21.

Yes. Sony Batteries charges cycle is also very fast. However, they are VVVVVVVVVERY HOT when charged. Esp the last 30%. I bet I can boil an egg with it. Sometimes, I charge them in my office and went out of the room to do my things. Just in case they explode.

I'm using Powerex from Maha. Good and cheap! Charger + 4 pcs of 2700mAh at $36 during the last IT show at Suntec. Fast charging as well and the batteries do not heat up during charging.

GP is the worst for me, not matter if its AA or gumstick.

sanyo eneloops. highly recommended. They last realllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy long. ;)

My personal experience, others may vary.
Quite disappointing for my Sony.
Switched to Sanyo 2,500 only to have the "cannot hold charge" problem.
Changed at the Heeren.
But the replacements are just as bad.
Need to charge just the day before my use.
Learnt to live with it.
Recently bought PowerEx but have yet to use.

GP was the worst for me too. I used the GP C cells with GP chargers. The C cells took 7/8 hours to charge up, but could last only 1 hour in my Pelican torch lights. The C cells could not fit into my UK torches too.

I next tried Sanyo AA batteries with C cell adaptors in my Pelican torches. After using I found the AA batteries dented at the -ve ends.

I got the new packaging ones (orange colour) for about 3 months now. Been using them on and off and so far they have been holding their charge for some time. Wonder why they are not marketing these new packaging ones? Seems to be alrite.

That said... I think the eneloops is a better choice though...Well, at least for me as I seldom shoot nowadays. I need something that can maintain its charge for a long time, rather than more power. At most, keep an extra set as spare (which I think everybody is doing) if you need more juice. Should be no issue since they are reputed to hold their charge even for a yr without much loss. Anybody wan to trade their Sanyo 2000mah eneloops with my Sanyo orange 2500mah batts? :bsmilie:
