If you buy D70...you can join us in NUG...if you buy 350D...you still can come to NUG...but you will be sitting one corner on your own

Wat's NUG? I'm guessing New User Group / Gang? :P

I'm a D70 user hor... and I love my D70... just wondering though, does the DIGIC II processor in Canon Cameras really work wonders?

I mean there must be some advantage of this DSP chip that Canon is trying use to market their cameras...

How does the D70 compare to a Canon in this area?

why don't you go to NUG before deciding what to buy? i've never been to one before but i'm sure the NUs will be more than willing to share their experience and advice with you, and maybe even let you play with their nikon gear (d70 and nikon lenses) in real shooting situations. won't tell you anything about canon, but at least then you'll know what to expect if you choose nikon!

when you reach NUG... there's only 1 brand left to buy with.. ahahahahahaha
welcome to nikon in advanced :D

haha, was in you position a few weeks ago ...
bought the D70 ...

go to shops and try both camera (a few times) ...
see you if like the camera's feel , buttons and knob layout, operation

for me, what i dun like abt 350D is that
- grip is too small to hold properly , makes me wonder how to shot properly when I can't even hold the camera properly ?
- menu a bit difficult to see under daylight
- camera look and feel very plastic
- only 1 commnd dial
- kit lens is ...

D350 grip small good for lady
D70 better grip good for guy

The most useful advice anyone ever gave me when I asked if I should get the D70 or 300D was to go down and try it myself. After trying both cameras out, I picked the 300D. Never regretted it since, so I personally feel you should try out both cameras yourself instead of asking for opinions.

Both the 350D and the D70 will definitely create images with are pretty much indistinguishable to each other, so pick what you feel works with you best.

Wait for the one to fill in obvious gap between Canon 350D and 1DMk2.
That is a $6,000 gap.

Build quality of 350D is poor.
I am Canon film cam user too, so I know what the company can do
if they want to make good build-quality cam. Think F1-N, EOS1-V

D70 build quality a bit better but seems dated by now.

Nowadays both Nikon and Canon cut costs on entry level cams.
They use stamped metal carrying strap eyelets.
Ugly like hell, I hate it. So in-elegant. Reminds me of an unflushed toilet.
Sometimes they carry production cost-cutting too far.
And tend to get rusty.

You see proper steel chromed eyelets on better cameras like F6, EOS 1V, FM2, F1-N, A-1, FE-2.

the gap is filled by the 20D now....

D70 comes with an awesome kit lens.

mpenza

oh yah, meant to say also gap between 20D and 1DMk2
still a $4,000 to $5,000 gap.
it is so obvious Canon got to fill it.

think something coming out soon. ..... a much improved 20D

If u go NUG, u will not consider 350D.:nono: cos u will be drown with D70 from the NUs.......

buy both .. try it ..
sell which ever u don like

If you go Nikon, you'll get the chance to be continuously pissed at the looong periods between new models. If you go Canon, you'll get the the chance to be continuously pissed at the constantly changing new models.

Choose your poison - as they say. :)

The REAL REASON to choose D70 over 350D is.....

It's a NIKON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bsmilie:

one thing over the 350d and D70/D70s

the shutter sound.. go listen..... i mentioned in a thread before....

the 350D sounds better... this time !! lol...

My friend and I are actually considering which DSLR to get? Maybe you all can help by giving some reasons to help us make the decision.
Thanks

Both Nikon and Canon are good camera.

Why not come to NUG and have a nice chat with us.
