The string is to be connected to the side brackets of your camera body, not to the lens. Cheers!

Hi rvf79,

Yes, you can shoot jewel with DCR-250 and a good lighting system.

Please note DCR-250 can be used with Canon 18-135mm although there is a bit of vignetting,

Oh, u refering to my FB pics ah...think i posted wrongly, the obvious vignetting was at 18mm, at 135mm, there should be minimum or no vignette. I think the DCR-250 is an affordable way to experience macro

However you need to get an universal adapter to attach the lens to your videocam due to the funny diameter of 41.5mm.
