Raynox (Japan) Products Now Available in Singapore! Part One

Hi Jim, I am interested to know if it is not recommended to use any of the telephoto lenses, like the DCR-2020PRO on any pocketable PNS's eg. F30, LX2, Coolpix S10, Canon A710IS or similar.

I came across this adaptor, an universal kind that can hold a 52mm lens with the supplied step-up ring.

Is manual focusing a must for using any of these telephoto lenses, since the AF on these PNS might not be able to focus (or is my imagination running wild).

Your advise is greatly appreciated. I'm particularly interested in the 2020PRO - if it is workable, may I know when is the availability of this lens?

thanks for dropping some queries.

as long as you happy, P&S cameras can also be used with the 2020PRO but it may not be too common as the users tend to travel light, that's why they want an affordable and small cam.

the universal lens adapter looks interesting but I observe the threads are too thick. Hence it might cause vignetting on certain cameras. The best is you use an adapter customised to specified cameras. Let me know your model. I can check on my side if i have something for you.

AF on P&S cams are quite advanced nowadays but sometimes people prefer the manual mode to allow complete control.

2020PRO is in stock but think only left 1 or 2 pcs.

Thanks, Jim, I have dropped you a PM. BTW regarding your point about the thread being too thick - do you mean the screw thread or the thickness of the lens holder plus the 37 to 52mm stepup ring, hence pushing the 2020PRO forward. If that is so, then vignetting is a high possibility. Another con with the universal adaptor is that stray lights may enter via the adaptor end.

Hi, I am using a D70 with Tamron 90mm macro. If I want to achieve 2:1 magnification with very deep DOF for taking small insects, which should I use DCR250 or CM3500? Or do u have a better recommendation?

Many thanks for your queries.

The Tamron 90mm macro is a good lens to use with Raynox macro lenses.

How small are your insects? The smaller it is, the higher the magnification needed so as to show more details. If you could stop down to f/16 or beyond, should be good for deep DOF.

But with higher magnification, you need to be very steady with your cam to avoid blur images, so there's a trade-off.

If you have a lens of more than 200mm, you should easily exceed 2:1 ratio with the CM-3500A or CM-2000A! Both are good, the difference lies probably in the magnification. And if your lenses are big (filter size 72mm or more), perhaps DCR-5320PRO is more suitable for you.

Please note the CM-3500A is compatible with either the plastic 58mm Canon adapter ($60) or metal Raynox 52mm adapter ($45).
