Hi Jim,

Just check with you on telephoto lenses for S3IS. Previously got the 0.66x wide angle lens from you. Now I wonder if there is suitable telephoto lens for the S3IS. I heard of issues with the 2.2x (what is the actual issue?) but what about the 1.54x and the 1.85x? Are they suitable?

Hi Keck Kiong,

Many thanks for your queries!

Certainly there are some good models for your S3IS!

The issue with the 2.2x is actually a matter of magnification. When at telephoto mode, the highest is 26.4x. As you may know, the higher the magnification, the more the optics will be tested, probably to the extreme. Since the lens is basically of achromatic design, it may magnify the chromatic abberration or what is commonly known as colour fringing.

Also unless you have a pair of very steady hands, it should be tripod-mounted if you want to take pics at such a magnification so as to get steady and clear images.

You can look at the page below to assess for yourself if you are ok with this DCR-2020PRO lens. The pelican/egret pic looks very acceptable to me though the eagle pic might seem a bit blur, but then this might be due to hand movement of the shooter.
http://raynox.co.jp/comparison/digital/comp_pss2is.htm#dcr-2020pro

The DCR-1540PRO is only at 1.54x, so basically it can be used hand-held with a pair of steady hands. Also images can look pretty sharp due to the lower magnification compared to the DCR-2020PRO. Not to mention the cute and compact design.

The 1.85x model is not suitable with the S5/S3/S2 series as it's meant for digicams with optical zoom of 6x or lesser, like the G7.

So it can be pretty subjective. Some S3 users keep the 2020PRO while others prefer the 1540PRO. You decide!

By the way, 2020PRO still in stock, 1540PRO already sold out.

Cheers,
Jim, McGill.

Hi, how much the DCR-1540PRO is selling?

I must say, the quality of this Raynox lenses are very good!

Hi,

Am looking at a 52mm WA lens for my FZ-5. So far, I'm interested in the following:

DCR-5000
DCR-730
DCR-7900ZD

Would appreciate it if you could provide a quote.

Just to check, these WA lenses effectively reduce the camera's focal length by 0.5x to 0.7x at all focal lengths, or does these WA lenses work only when the camera's focal length is at the wide end?

Thanks.

Hi SNAG,

Many thanks for your queries!

DCR-5000 no stock , but XL-5000PRO @S$140nett in stock. Same lens but the XL version can be mounted to any digicam or videocam of diameters 52 to 67mm.

DCR-730 @S$140nett in stock, see below. Please purchase on eBay if keen.
http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/ws/eBayISAPI...MESE:IT&viewitem=&item=250107135569&rd=1&rd=1

DCR-7900ZD - Bestseller for DSLR lenses @S$370nett (USA market price :US$249)
No stock. Best for non-distortion images! Full metal body.

These wide angle lenses perform the best when set at the max wide angle setting of your lens. When zooming nearer, edges and sides will most probably get blurred. As to the extent of the degradation, much will depend on your cam's specifications.

Hope you're clearer now and can transfer some money from your pocket to ours. :bsmilie:

Cheers,

Query on Raynox lenses:

CONFIDENTIAL said:
Now that you are recommending the 52mm adaptor from Raynox, any chance of a lens cap that comes along with it?

Or do you propose a clear filter that stays on all the time to prevent dust from going in. I really intend this to be a permanent feature on the camera as I wish to protect the lens barrel and prevent sratches on the lens.

By the way, any vignetting on the wide angle lens 6600? It seems that there are a lot of comments with regards to this, plus corner blurring.

So if I order it online, where's the pickup place? Or can I just buy this directly from you in cash?

Sorry for the 'so' many questions - I'm really new to online shopping.

Hi XXX,

Many thanks for your queries!

Please note that the 52mm Raynox S5/S3/S2 adapter comes with a normal cover, not the clip-on type.

Also a clear or UV filter is good to protect the lens. We have this for an extra $25 only when bought with the adapter. It's our own brand, with good quality - SMC coating.

Just need to order the adapter on our eBay store and inform in the comments box you're getting a UV filter too. See below:
http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/RAYNOX-Lens-...3QQihZ015QQcategoryZ43445QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's also a good idea to get a 52mm circular polarizer to take out reflections of glass or water. It's another $25 only with bought together with this adapter.

After you have ordered on eBay, we'll contact you for COD pick-up at Bedok or can post to you, whichever you prefer. You need to place order online before pick-up. Manual order is possible but at $10 surcharge per order.

*Some users have reported very slight vignetting of DCR-6600PRO (with the attached lens hood) when used together with the S3 but not with the S2. This issue will be solved when you do some slight zooming in. Thanks!

**Corner blurring is part and parcel of wide angles. But Raynox models still perform better than most other brands on this aspect.

Cheers,
Jim, McGill.

Hi Jim,

I checked your eBay website and I can't find any deals for a 72-58mm step down for Canon G6.

1. Do you happen to have any 72-58mm (RA7258) adapter and what price would it be?

2. Also to confirm, the CM-2000A should be able to be used with the G6 with a 58mm adapter right?

3. Just wondering if the MSN-202 Super Macro lens can be attached to one of the 2 lens (M150 or M250) from the CM-2000A MacroExplorer Kit using a 37-49mm (RA3749) step up adapter since M150/250 has a front end 49mm filter size?

Tks.

Hi kairospix,

Many thanks for your queries.

We don't display stepping rings on eBay store due to low value.

1. We keep stock of the RA7258 ring as some users need it for Raynox lenses. Sorry now we don't sell this ring separately. Due to low stock, these very high quality rings @$20 can only be bought if you are getting any Raynox lenses from us.

2. As long as your G6 has a lens adapter, you can mount to any Raynox macro lens such as the CM-2000A.

3. MSN-202 can be attached to any Raynox macro lens with the help of suitable adapters or rings. With the CM-2000A kit, MSN-202 can be mounted directly without any other extra ring. So you can get both. ;p

Feel free to clarify if in doubt.

Cheers,
Jim, McGill.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your reply.

Just need a clarification - i've checked out the Raynox website and MSN-202 was not shown as a macro lens to be used with the Canon G6 but it was shown for the G7.

I'm concerned if this might be because the MSN-202 is not suitable for the G6?

From your experience do you think there is any issues or problems using MSN-202 alone with a G6 and when stacking on top of the CM-2000A kit?

Also wondering how long after I ordered/bought at eBay before I could meet up for a COD transaction? Within the same day? Next day?

Thanks.

Hi kairospix,

Thanks for your queries.

G6 and G7 are quite similar in optical system, so probably actual footage of G6 with MSN-202 is not shown. Anyway, you can try both lenses during collection time.

For experience, MSN-202 will be tougher to handle due to the higher magnification compared to the CM-2000A. Good shooters will have no problem handling both. Please determine if you're a good shooter first or if you have the potential to become one. ;)

If you order on our eBay store before 12pm, normally you can collect it at Bedok in the evening. Pick-up point in city area is dependent on our delivery schedule during the daytime. Fastest way is to call us @9108-1059 after ordering on eBay. ;p

Thanks!

Hi All,

People have been asking us about the bestselling Raynox macro lenses CM-2000A:
http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/RAYNOX-Impro...8QQihZ015QQcategoryZ43445QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

We'll mention something here to let you have a basic idea:
1) If you want to take pictures of small flowers, the M-150 of the CM-2000A set seems more appropriate.

2) If you want to take pictures of small insects, the M-250 of the CM-2000A set seems more appropriate.

3) If you want to take pictures of bigger close-ups of small insects, the M-150 stacked with M-250 set seems more appropriate.

Accessories useful with the Raynox CM-2000A, DCR-150 & DCR-250 are as below:
4) MCLS-1 - Direct mounting to these macro lenses
http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250101572316

5) Universal Cable Release Adapter for digicams - To eliminate vibration for sharp close-ups

Hope people are clearer now. Lots of fun awaiting the potential user! ;)

For Canon HV20 camcorder, what is a good wide angle lens for it?

I saw Raynox's site says HD6600PRO-52 with RA5243A adapter, but I also read some people just got the HD6600PRO-43 without using any adapter. Do you know why Raynox recommends the 52mm lens with adapter? What are the prices for both these setup?

How about HD7000PRO?

Thanks.

Hi lwm,

Thanks for your queries!

For HV20, please refer to this page and click on the link for this model:
http://www.mcgill.com.sg/shop/gallery.php?osCsid=68c3bb7b45da996c66a93cff05eb0d66

HD6600-43mm type is not that common, so the 52mm one is mentioned instead. Price the same as below:
http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/RAYNOX-DCR-6...83QQihZ015QQcategoryZ3332QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

However please note that with above lens, your HV20 can only zoom up to about 6x before image gets out of focus.

HD-7000PRO is recommended as you can zoom all the way to 10x. It's actually a very good lens for both high-end digicams and camcorders. It comes in 58mm or 62mm threads. We have Sony Z1 users who are pretty happy with the performance.

The 7000PRO series is out of stock. Already have a number of enquiries, so it's likely we'll stock more in future.

Let me know if you're keen to get it as next shipment from Raynox should be in soon.

Cheers,
Jim, McGill.

Quote: KeXXXX-
May i know what are the products suitable for a D70?

Hi KeXXXX,

Thanks for your query.

You should be saying what are the products suitable for my D70 DSLR lenses?

The camera body is not important but the lenses are!

If your lenses have focal lengths from 50mm to 300mm, you can use almost all macro lenses from Raynox. Currently in stock are CM-2000A, DCR-250 & DCR-5320PRO. The last model is more popular with Nikon DSLR lenses as most of these are of filter size 67mm or above whereas the DCR-5320PRO has 72mm threads - perfect fit for the VR18-200mm with no vignetting!

For wide angle, you can consider the DCR-7900ZD 0.79x but this is dependent on lens used. Best is to test it out to see the real result.

Please refer to our mcgill.com.sg website and eBay store for more details.

Hope you're clearer now. I'll be glad to assist you further.

Cheers,
Jim, McGill.
