RAYNOX DCR-250 Super Macro Close Up Lens

Hi

I have a tamron 17-50mm f2.8. I wonder whether this lens can be used with RAYNOX DCR-250 Super Macro Close Up Lens or better to use the Canon 500D close up lens?

yes, it can be used. but you will have to crop your photos as the 4 corners will be blackout.

The RAYNOX DCR-250 lens includes a snap-on universal mount suitable for 52mm to 67mm filter size.
The tamron 17-70 has a filter size of 67mm.
Do you have 50mm F1.8? it's diameter of 52mm which the RAYNOX DCR-250 fits just nicely on to it without having you to crop it.

As I've sold my 50mm F1.8, hence i've no more use for my RAYNOX DCR-250. I think i'll sell it soon =P

Raynox DCR-250 is one of the best close up filter around but on 67mm filter thread, it will give you vignetting. It works best on 50mm f/1.8 but I had tried it on Nikon. Don't know about the Canon 50mm...

ya it's the same, i have vignetting in my 67mm.

as Canon 50mm F1.8 is using 52mm, it suits 50mm F1.8 best i must say =)

Hi just wanna ask a noob question on this Raynox Macro Lens, so we attach this lens on top of our original lens, say a 50mm f1.8 II and then we can take macro pictures already? Is that how it works? So after attaching the lens, my original 50mm becomes what mm? :dunno:

It still remains at 50mm. You have to go very near to the objects like flowers or insects. Another thing is If you don't go near the object you can't focus. The IQ will be like normal macro lenses.

The focal length will remain, but the magnification ratio will increase.

Its not actually a converter, its just a piece of magnification glass that is stacked on your lens.
The Raynox can never beat the 1:1 magnification ratio of true macro lens, the closest will be 50mm f1.8 + extension tubes + raynox.

Never tried on it before. But once tried on my Tamron of 67mm filter thread, yes vignetting occurs, so it will be the same with 100mm Macro.

thanks for the reply! is the vignetting severe? as in is it juz the small corners or you can actually see a round back edge surrounding the centre of the picture? :sweat:

Been using the raynox 250 + 50mm F1.8 for macro quite sometime now, love the IQ, its good and sharp, but now i want to increase the magnification, i want the subject of my shooting to be bigger on the picture.

Should i get a hoya +4 closeup + my raynox on the 50mm or should i get a set of kenko extension tube and use it with my raynox? Some advices please from the experienced. Thanks.

Have you tried using the Raynox 250 with a 135mm or 200mm lens? That'll give you higher magnification.
