Rating Sigma 70-200mm HSM II Macro & Sigma 70-200mm HSM OS

are u sure u need an OS for sigma 50 150? i still use 50 150 without OS and it works well for me.

*just my info*..

OS/VR/IS gives you a 2 to 4 stop advantage when shooting handheld at low light. It just lets you get away with lower ISO when the subject is relatively motionless. It is especially useful if you are shooting at an upwards angle as you tend to be a bit more unstable.

Hi got my OS version from DDElectronics last weekend, manage to get it for 1438 after 2% off if u pay cash plus 54 dollars for additional 3 years warranty. I hope it's a good deal. here are some pics I took with this lens just after I bought it. dunno if my standards are low but im very satisfied with the output.

Most affordable should be the Nikkor 80-200/f2.8
If focus speed is not a prob to you, get this. Sharp and crisp.

I was fortunate enough to have a friend who has it and I tried. It is good alright but it still $400 away from the sigma non OS. Is there a large gap in terms of the quality of this against the 2 sigma?

I feel the build is solid (80-200mm). But I was testing under florescent lighting which I kept getting inconsistent colour cast. My friend told me it's due to the light. Hence I would say the result is not conclusive.

I also do not have the chance to try the sigma lens. Does sigma have showroom in SG?

+1 Look at the 80-200/2.8

Even the push pull AF-D is crisp.

anyone used the OS version on a FF body?...
how is it when shot with a FF??..

The lack of AF override and relatively noisy focussing (atleast with my D7k) were killers for me.
Planning to shoot a friends Bharatanatiyam recital. So switched to the Sigma OS version for those two reasons.
And no, i'm not the official photographer. :)

Having said that the Nikon 80-200 is a brilliant lens by any other standard.
