I was "finializing" my thoughts with settling down with Sigma 17-50...But just want to know, Is Sigma lens that bad like how the internet world paints them when it comes to compatibility with new bodies (May potentially be upgrading body, but probably not in the next 2yrs)? Seems like Sigma have issues in the past when older lens gets quirky in newer bodies.

*after alot of reading...I realized (or rather knew all along), there is no perfect lens in the 17-5X region*

Canon 17-55: Seems like this lens like the Service Center alot due to the IS issue. Dust eater
Tamron: Loose/Broken elements + other build related issues
Sigma: Potential compatibility issues with newer bodies (Tamron seems to be alot better in this area). you are still in luck if the lens is still in production when you upgrade your body where they will help to re-chip if any available

You might want to get a used Tamron with local wty at $400+ range & test it out. It might suit u but not others. It also depend how u take care of ur stuffs.
For me , all my equipments are as good as new.
No harm trying cos is not hard to sell in future wif this kind of price range.

But seems like the Tamron loose front element comes "naturally" with age (wear and tear. The video looks easy to repair, but some say don't do it due to the risks.). Chances of me getting Sigma is relatively high (it's not like I change cam body so often), since I don't like to visit service center very often. (Canon for the IS issue and Tamron for the front element issue)

If the 17-55 IS is more reliable that what the internet painted, I would have got a 2nd hand of it over Sigma brand new.

it will/may only cause me future problems.

this 1 is for backup purposes ;p

I thought Bon Bon say only want L? Status.
She already got it liao...

If I go grab this Sigma lens, I will confirm do a comparison between the kit vs it in a "real-world-usage". Sick and tired of seeing those 100% crops testing
