some shops dont even know their common names.

some only write chinese names or like the black & white pleco which i posted. it is actually a cheap common pleco. but theres quite a few species of common pleco and everyone normally just term them together as L001 which is in fact, a specific species under the same genus.

this is a L001 (Gold Spot Pleco, Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus) taken last night:

Zebra Shovelnose (Brachyplatystoma tigrinum) more common known as Tigrinus locally after its previous sci name (Merodontotus tigrinus):

Golden Dorado (Salminus maxillosus):

Nice shot of the Endy, Lima Shovelnose & the Golden Dorado (minus the other two fishes). The Armatus looks like a mini Piranha...........:bsmilie:

they r fr the same family of Charcin as pirahna same goes for the dorado.

the difference is their teeth structure n the way they eat. these guys swallow their food whole n they dont tear flesh. pirahnas do.

in fact, the armatus is actually a tetra.

in time to come, these 2 fellas will b bigger than most species of pirahnas. :D

Tetra? I use to keep neon tetras. Are they sub species? Don't think they have teeth like the armatus rite? I use to put my hands in the tank ...........:bsmilie:

dont worry. there r many species of tetras. those small little guys wont do any harm to u. even if its an armatus it wont do any harm to anyone. dont get fooled by their teeth. those r meant to grip on to their prey. not to bite anyone. they wont attack anything that they cant swallow.

Good thing I dun look like food to them.................:bsmilie: :bsmilie:
