Quick review of Sirui N-1204 carbon-fibre travel tripod

nice mini-review there.
would like to ask, what's the max height of the monopod? if it's just the leg's length, seems rather short to use yea?

1320mm, minus the height of watever ballhead one chooses to attach. check #1 and go over to dennis' thread for the specs.

i went down to TK foto for a look this afternoon and then went to take a look at benro's. really wat you pay wat you get!

both are sturdy but the build is diff!

do u mean to say that sirui is a better tripod built than benro?

btw wad does th 6yrs warranty cover? btw is there any models that has a lower max load. Cause im using a 500d and a 15-85 currently. dont really need the 10kg load. considering this over manfrotto cx3

i cannot comment on the build when it is on mount. the personal feeling is that the build is better compare to benro. but if on actually usage, it may diff. I dun wish to start a flame here but this is wat i feel. you can go test both and see for yourself :)

imho, this tripod is really value for money.

This, i have to agree. I've seen the benro brand and it didn't impress me one bit. Like I said earlier, was damn set on getting the gitzo until the guys at TK convinced me other wise. Unbeatable combo with the RRS L plate!

No relevance whatsoever, but this is my (ultra) portable set up for lighting outdoors hehe.Love it!

i was at TK playing with both tripods earlier.

Manfrotto 190CX3 is sturdier, and is 3 section, Sirui is lighter, more compact and taller, and is 4 section.

As an above poster said, the quickrelease for the legs for the sirui are supported by a single spring...

i ended up getting it and the G-10 anyways

finally made a trip down to TK,
the sirui was good, better than benro imo.
tried the R series instead, as i do not have the budget for the N series, and didn't needed the monopod anyway.
the g-10 ball head as mentioned by nightwolf is rather too small for big cameras, and the g20 looks good enough.
cant comment on the screw in though, as i didn't have a camera to test with.

will most prob be making another trip down to get it after i sell my 190xb =x.

Finally went down to check out the N1204 at TK. I must say I am very impressed by it. The ability to convert to monopod is very creative. The 8x fibre carbon, quick lock, foldable length is comparable to Gitzo. Somehow I feel my Gitzo has a slightly better quality feel to it (maybe it is psychological with all things Made in China). However, the free tripod bag, short center column, tripod sling, warm sleeve makes it very good value for money.

BTW, I bought it. Another impressed customer of Sirui.

Went down to tk foto to take a look at sirui tripod and James said it cannot compare with another china brand benro so I went to penisular to take a comparision look and went back to tk foto for the 1204 good money for value

For double the price of the sirui and for slightly better quality...that's what pushed me over to sirui. And what's more for the savings, i got the markins plus RRS plate!

Congrats on your purchase!

Yes, that's why I purchase it. I tend to abuse my tripod and use it as a beggar rod. At least won't feel so heart pain. :)

Anyway, tested it last night. It really is good value for $. The N1204 also extend to suit my height better than the T series.

Are the Sirui QR plates available separately?

I bought the SIRUI T-1204 with G-10 head to use with my LUMIX GF-1.
The LUMIX GF-1 tripod mounting screw bush protrude fractionally
above the camera body base. As such, the SIRUI quick mount plate
which has an almost flat thin rubber is very difficult to be tightened.
I had to gum a piece of cork sheet material (TK's Richard recommended
a bicycle inner tube rubber material) to the mounting plate to obtain a
tight mount. I used the Allen Key supplied to tighten the quick mount
plate as I do not intend to remove the plate in the field.
The camera battery compartment can be opened without
removing the SIRUI mounting plate from the camera.

People using the original LUMIX 45-200 lens should be careful as wrong
installation of the quick mount plate can damage the lens. The lens
body is lower than the camera base, that's why PANASONIC sells
a spacer adaptor.

hi may i ask is there any problem with the plate for vertical shooting?it doesn't seem to be tight enough.everytime i wana try to use for vertical shooting it will be loose.. need help thanks..

Just got the N-1005, basically it's the aluminium version. Excellent for me as I'm a tall person. Weight is still lighter than the Manfrotto and Benro. Got it at $230 with the new K10x head. Must say it's very value for money.

I realise you posted this early this year, but in case you still have the same problem, perhaps the tripod adapter would help.

Thanks to Dennis and this review, I went down to TK photo to get myself a T1204. Feels great, sturdy and most importantly light! Heh. Had a good experience w TK, very commendable service and highly recommended.

ANyone bought the R1204+G10 or the T1005X+G10?

My priority is lightweight and compact for travel purpose...
