Question on lens purchase

Quick question. I can understand if you buy a Vintage lens that it does not come with papers. If it is a lens that is from the late 90s, 2000s, assuming lens is in great condition, how important is the warranty paper to you?

Not to flip, but wondering how much is a fair price to pay for a lens a friend is thinking of selling me.

Better you state actual lens and actual condition. There is a wide price range depending on condition for vintage lenses.

It's nice to have papers, but by now there is no more warranty right? If me, I'll jump straight in since it's in great condition (price is another factor). However, I'm talking through a shooter's pov. For collecting, papers more shiok, cause you can hao lian full set combo complete.

I paid for a 1972 blackpaint 50mm F1.4 pre-asph at about $1500 SGD in Japan from MAP camera, if that helps.

Interestingly, there was a 1984 lens that was priced the same, but the older lens was in way better condition upon inspection.

Big Guy cares more about the conditions of the lens than some warranty card that has already expired. Anyway, if the lens is good conditions, should not have any problem selling off @cost or better. Good luck... and I am no lens expert. Heheh

Based on my previous "hard-knocks", for all vintage lenses I value the quality the lenses can gaves me, rather that the superficial scratch-here-and-there issues. Quality can only be known when you use it for a period of time. But then again I guess you already bought it to use.

But if I really could find a really pristine and good quality vintage lenses, sublime.

Sorry for my obfuscated posting . I think older (vintage) lenses mostly are built to last, so warranty may not be an issues. If it is good probably can last you for ages. Unlike the currently electronics gears I heard they are built to spoilt after a period of time. So warranty is not so important, imho.
