Question of CS members who buy low and sell higher

I was just wondering, is it ok for CS members who buy low and sell higher all in CS B&S section? I heard abt it before, but I just noticed it myself... so I'm just wondering ;)

I am also wondering, is it ok for Singaporeans to buy low and sell high in property or stock market? If is ok, why not in CS B&S section? If not, which law prohibits that? If the law does not prohibits that, why should CS? Please don't get me wrong, I am not saying anything about right or wrong. But it is a free market in a free country. Once your item is sold to another person, it becomes his property and it is entirely up to him to do whatever he likes with it, be it selling it at a skyhigh price or giving it away free.

Have you wondered why people would buy that item that was priced higher than its worth? I'm guessing maybe there are enough people who haven't done enough homework, thus willing to pay more for that item :dunno: If people are willing to pay at that price, that price it will be.

Just don't be that person shelling out the cash ;p

And ziploc's post reminds me of 7-11's pricing of some goods, which can fluctuate as you visit different stores along orchard road, just a thought.

a deal is 2 sided.

seller wants to sell at a price, buyer feels comfortable, then deal. if seller or buyer dnt feel comfortable for watever reason then no deal lor

I do understand what you are saying... but maybe I did not ask my question clearly.

If doing this is ok, then could this be considered as doing "business"? I know that CS catergorizes different users. Some are members, and then there are advertisers, etc. If this is liken to be a "business", should the person be categorized as an advertiser or reseller?

In the past, some friends pointed me to some sellers in CS who seem to always have stocks to sell, and sometimes repeated items. Then there are some who buy from B&S and then sell it at a higher price.

Like I mentioned, I'm just wondering... :D

i agree about free markets

but someone passing himself off as a normal member when they are actually using cs as a grounds for trading and revenue, how does the mod/admin team feel about that?

so should mods buy up all the stocks and markup then resell to the members? then how does the 2nd hand shops around peninsular feel?

there are always grey areas in anywhere that can't be help, just carry on with our daily routines. :)

i'm already LLST when i saw more china brands comes out and went to china recently was disappoint with their products as no matter how much you can bargain, you are still the carrot head to them. :bsmilie:

i think what ts is trying to say is the sellers who are using cs as a trading platform to buy and sell second-hand equipment should be classified differently from a genuine owner who is selling his personal equipment.

i have seen a couple of same sellers who claim they are selling their endless personal equipment.

well u're confirm a carrot when u pay S$1 for something worth RMB$1... you'll probably start earning when you ship in containers... not toyogo containers... i mean those 40ft ones...

well, stepping out of the circle and look, how to control?

tell them to stop, they reg new nick
tell them to pay fee, they reg new nick
ban them already, confirm another new nick...

those are people in the 'dark', we don't even know them, how the hell we control their activities? even no need new nicks... there is 101 ways to buy without even a slightest link to the selling acct.

ts is identifying a problem. need to brainstorm a solution lor. that's what you are here for and your contribution to cs is priceless. :bsmilie:

anyways there are some very obvious sellers who are using this as a platform for business. i can easily identify one in the space of 1 week he has posted 20 items to sell.

that is why police will never be out of jobs, just help abit when possible but of cos be merciful.
police also need undercovers to tip them off :sbmilie: as long as it is not too much, i think it is fine.

sorry, i don't get what you are saying....

anyways, i understand that there are policing constraints.. what i think i want to know is if there will be action taken on cases whereby you can prove that the person is engaging in such activity.

certainly, you can say that cases will recur, new nicks not hard to register, since can make fake email just for new nickname.....

but that is akin to saying that there is no point charging someone in court unless you can sentence them to lifetime jail without recourse or execution, since 3 months later they are out, can go the same course again if they want. if not 3 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, also sama sama, just a matter of time.

Ah that makes the whole thing different. CS does have rules governing people conducting business on the forum, that such traders must be registered as advertisers. For the simple reason that the money earned from the advertisers is going towards supporting running CS as a free forum for our members (it can get very expensive if you had noticed the money needed for the recent hardware failure, not to mention the daily expenses). And as already mentioned, the mods can't possibly catch all the unregister traders. That's why we need members help to report them when suspects are spotted (which many of you are already helping). It doesn't matter if they hide under different nicks. Once the new nick is reported the mods and admins will have ways of tracing them to the old nicks. :)

Yes action will be taken if it is sighted by the mods or reported by the members, and verified/confirmed by the mods/admins team. But of course this refers to traders doing business "undercover". For regular members "buy low sell high", of course nothing can/shall be done.
