Another option is: Dump him asap. Look for your typical banker, lawyer, successful doctor in private practice who can easily earn at least $20k a month and above, giving you that *false* sense of security knowing he can provide you or your future family with lots of $$$$.
assuming of course that the rich banker, lawyer, $ucce$$ful doctor in private practice, will remain faithful to her for the rest of her life.
What if a handsome guy is earning 10k or even 20k a mth, and ladies fall in love with him cos of his $. Then one day he gets dismissed from his job cos of some reason and goes bankrupt. Will he be divorced? Just lets say they're not married at the point, will he be dumped?

btw, kcuf2,
i salute you for serving the nation, for making our country safe.
i hope it all turns out well crafted for you when you finish your contract.
a big thank you.
No problem... but I am already planning my way out of here already after the completion of my first contract term...
Maybe give u another idea of wat i mean by "the practical experience of the military is useless"
Frankly, I am already looking for jobs outside, give u a bit background:
a) I am very young, lesser than 35
b) Graduated 2nd upper in ntu accountancy
c) Completed CFA program. (all 1 time passes)
d) In ACCA program
e) CPA Singapore
With the credentials above, it is not even sufficient for entry finance/banking position. Recruiters tell me straight in the face that I have no RELEVANT EXPERIENCE.
This is how cruel the world works. I am still finding my way out.
that's the point.
i didnt say it's PURELY lookin at how much dough he brings home.
but i have to admit, i'm a high maintenance woman.
i have 3 supercars+ 2 lao pok car to feed on top of 2 properties.
i dont see how anyone earning less than 20-30k a month being able to afford me IF i'm not working.
again, i didnt say this to show off.it's REALITY.
this is S I N G A P O R E.
so are you (to all the xmm's out there) :bsmilie:
I am working in the military now.
To answer ur question Jeanie, you must know something very important. The army may pay u around $10 (LTC) $13k (S/LTC) which seems to be quite a lot, but theres a big reason for it.
You must know and the guy already know that he doesnt have value anymore when he retires at 40+ from the military --> It is super hard to find jobs elsewhere because his military experience is practically useless. And somemore at 40+ without practical experience, its ultra uber hard.
It is precisely due to the early retirement age, that is why the army pays u so high monthly salary --> the high monthly of 10k or 13k is for u to save up for the future when u retire at 40+.
However, another thing that u might be very interested ($$$$$$$), when the military officers retire at 40+, for a LTC or S/LTC, they could receive a lump sum payment of close to a million dollars for retirement. Is this million dollar amount sufficient to maintain the lifestyle of the both of you till around 80 yrs old for the both of you?
The LTC or S/LTC should have already save up a substantial amount of money so by the time he retires, he should probably have at least 500k savings? this 500k + 1 million = $1.5mil should be sufficient to maintain the lifestyle of most ppl.... but i am not sure abt u, considering u buy skylines, D3s, f2.8 lenses like buying popiahs...
After retirement from military, another option would be to convert to a DXO, but like what the rest had mentioned, normally they would take a paycut of 50% (arnd 5k or 6k), sometimes even more. By being a DXO, they can work till the statutory retirement age. And again to me, being still able to take home 5k or 6k at mid 40s onwards is already a very good thing, taking note that outside corporations wouldnt wan you.
Actually, to most ppl, to be able to command a salary of 4k/mth or 5k/mth is a very big thing. And to most girls, they would be satisfied and willing to settle down with a guy that could bring home a 4k/mth or 5k/mth salary. I mean this is for normal guys and girls with normal expectations.
I am not saying you are wrong to take the $$$$ factor of a guy as a major consideration when considering a bf/ future husband, but if u wan to settle down with guys that are outside of ur industry, you have to tweak ur expectations. Otherwise, hunt for guys in ur industry...
You might be heavily influenced by the ppl around you, and are used to ppl commanding 15k, 20k, 100k salaries, but you must understand and know that in reality, not every job/industry/career gives u 15k by mid-30s. Most ppl in Singapore are still stuck at 4k+, 5k+, 6k+ even though they are already at 40s or 50s.
jeanie zeh zeh
some suggestions for you, humble ones. you also know i never really laugh at you, when i laugh i always laugh at everyone. :bsmilie:
i agree with you, money is important. i also agree with you that you have a right to determine your own criteria for lifelong partners. that's fair enough. but don't forget that people also have a right to feel about this criteria.
i'm not you, i don't own many cars, i don't have any property, i don't think i will reach $15k in this lifetime. i'm also not a girl, and i don't have nikon lenscaps. i can see your point of view that the person you marry should be able to sustain your lifestyle.
putting all those silly love ideology rubbish things aside though, i really, really think that beneath it all, if you found someone good enough, all that won't matter. to me, at the end of the day, this life is too short to care so much about material goods. don't have enough money to buy good car? it's ok, i can walk. don't have enough money to buy good condo or landed property in nice location? doesn't matter, hdb is enough to hold my things. don't have enough money to buy camera gear? it's ok, i will handle other priorities first, next time then say.
but if you have enough money to do all these, but the person lying next to you, having dinner with you, whose kids you will be bearing (if you choose to do so)... means very little to you, then all of that would be tasteless. maybe it's ok, you can change it later on, but sometimes it is too late, when you have other things to think of.
yes, without money, also no love to talk about, got other things to worry about. but have enough money to live life comfortably... then maybe, don't care so much. lifestyle can change, luxury can reduce... having a lifelong partner that you cherish, that's far more important.
cheers, and merry x'mas.![]()
Sis, then I can safely say your SLTC is not the one for you. I don't think he can afford that. Go find someone else who can.
that's the point.
