Purchase from BH Photo

Just picked up an EF-S 15-85mm from B&H Photo. Sent credit card scan and received the package within 4 days. All in, with shipping, GST and UPS admin fee, I paid S$1010 (there was a $100 rebate at the time), saving at least S$180 off the street cash price here. Impressed

Of course we regret your inconvenience and dissatisfaction. Often the information we're permitted to reveal under these circumstances is severely limited by the bank which issued the credit card and by our merchant bank. If the card has fallen into the hands of pirates this policy limits the information they have and helps deter their thievery.

Hi Henry,

May I know what kind of info your dept need to verify? Maybe your guy can advise the customer to talk to their bank to reveal relevant info to your dept if they have any difficult rather than accept the credit card & charge into our account & later on refund which incurred unneccessary lost to the customer pocket due to exchange rate.

I suggest maybe for oversea purchase thru credit card, temp log in till your side have done enough verification work, then proceed to charge into customer account.

Just to share, online purchase is more practical in big country like US...but over here in Singapore we can go to any camera shops within 30 mins drive.

We are very caution about it & treat it as a serious issue especially when we try to save a few hundreds to purchase from overseas company thru online but end up lost few hundred dollars.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks.

Hi Henry,
May I know what kind of info your dept need to verify?

Of course not. Two reasons. First, we're no more likely to tell folks what we need than the bank is to print the password to their vault on the door jamb. Sooner or later the pirates we're trying to deter would know what tools we use to deter them. Then where'd we be?

Second, each situation is different and each may require different particulars. Our verification staff does what they can before involving the customer and then, if customer involvement si necessary, they ask whichever specific questions they deem necessary to complete that individual transaction.
