Pros shoot with one eye shut. Amateurs shoot with both eyes open.

there already are. look at all the entry level series A100 to A5xx.

just that they don't have a pentaprism like the A850 and A900 and an OVF that's really, really bright

Actually I meant between liveview and ovf which would u prefer? But I suppose u'd prefer ovf.

They cant have liveview with pentaprism, thats the reason why all other manufacturers cant as well.
Either its pentamirror with secondary liveview sensor or using the main sensor.
Sony has overcome it by using SLT, using main sensor to provide liveview while still can use phase detect af.
If you havent use any SLT yet, then you are wrong. The current and upcoming SLTs all use main sensor to provide liveview on 920k resolution screen. It is sharper and clearer than the pictures you get IMO.
And you know why canikons have higher fps and buffer for? Thats becos they dun have a good liveview, so people has to try shoot overhead or under hip using burst mode to try get best possible shots. I have seen many reporters shooting overhead by anyhow guessing the framing and bursting it all the way cos they dun even know what shots they will get. By the way, other than video, i find it useless for canikons to have flipout screen since their liveview is useless.

Sorry I am not well informed about how live views work but D90 has a pentaprism and has live view too...? Do enlighten me on this.

I have tried some SLTs before and although the screen has quite a high resolution, I find it too digital-ised like EVF.

Erm I use a Nikon now and I don't use the continuous burst mode. I think it's more about targeting different consumers like the faster fps would be for sports photographer or those guys doing reportage who cannot lose any shot of the target.

Well I would not deny that it is useless so it's rather shitty on the Canikons too. It seems more like a 'I give you to make you happy' kind of thing.

That's because the sensors that are capable of a live video feed, as used in the D3X, were developed AFTER the A900 was completed.

That's rather erm disheartening and I am not trying to be funny.

That was 2008. We are already in 2011, and heading 2012 soon. The expectation has changed. It would be hard to justify a FF camera today without a live view system, when (almost) all entry level DSLR comes with it.

It would definitely be but it might not be if they were to exclude the live view and push the price of an FF down by a substantial amount.
