Hi, I don't know whether I am using it wrong or what, but when I use the search, sometimes it misses some posts which satisfy the search requirements. For example, I recently wanted to search for a post which I saw in B&S for a 500D close-up lens. I typed 500D in the search field, both for advanced search and the quick search, but the post I was looking for did not come up in either search (other posts did). After going through B&S manually, I located the post that I was looking for. It is the post by FujiS2, and there is definitely the search string 500D both in the title and in the body of the post, yet the search engine fails to find it... I'm not sure why.

Like they always say "Its not a bug, its a feature!" :D

Explanation on how this can happen. Post in Buy & Sell forums are not indexed in the Search index automagically as we are using a form-based posting method. The thread will get indexed when:
a) someone posts a follow-on post in the thread with similiar info (eg. the thread starter restates the pertinent information in a 2nd thread; OR
b) manual search index update is performed - we do this usually once a week; sometimes twice.

Hope this clarifies. We are actively investigating upgrading the search capabilities of the site so things may change in the future.
