Hi, do we get the extra mm by mounting the EF-S lens to 7D? Thanks.:)

It's not really "extra", it's just that all lenses, including EF-S lenses, have an equivalent field of view of 1.6 times the standard 35mm film format when mounted on APS-C cameras(like the 7D). Meaning a 50mm lens would have an 50 x1.6= 80mm field of view.

been using the nikkor 35mm f1.4 AIS on the 7D. am i weird

Canon 7D + EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 =

I wonder that which lens to choose of this L lens on my 7D... 135 F2L or 17-40 F4L?

both serve different purposes.

know what you like to shoot before you even consider buying more lenses.

1st i got canon lens (forgot the model but f3.5-4.5 i think) and friend said tamaron 17-50 is good and tried but sold boz of my shaky hands. bought canon 17-55 f2.8 IS USM but range is too limited for me.( mostly i shoot potraits and walkaround plus if u use flash for potraits most of the time dont need f2.8 imo). Finally i bought 24-105 f4 L, what a great lens. finally i have found good lens. Color contrast are far better than 17-55. and bought 10-22 for landscape.

I can say if u want 1 lens to carry around 24-105 is the best in anyway like budget, IQ, color and range. ( if u dont mind playing with Iso setting ) and 10-22 is must have for landscape and some creative portraits shots)

Hi tznyein,

Are you sure about the IQ comparison ? I'm not sure either , because I don't own the 24-105mm .

It's good if you share sample pictures for comparison .

i am looking forward to see how 'far better' the 24-105L's IQ is better than the 17-55's.

Hi guys,
I'm starting to like leaving my 70-200 2.8 mounted on my 7d. I like that the fovcf gives extra tightness to the telephoto. See below uncropped pic.

Unless I need to shoot indoors or landscapes, I switch to shorter lenses. Though a tele can be used for landscapes as well I heard.

is 24-105L really much better than 17-55?? 17-55 was too bad when i was testing it...

Hi all,

I plan to get 7D soon, but i was confused with what lenses to get.
My kind of shot was landscape, portrait and street photography.
Hope the seniors here can give me some advises. Would the 35mm f1.4 compatible with 7D?

Unfortunately, i dont have to compare IQ. coz i sold 17-55 first then bought 24-105. Never tough about comparing IQ since its not what i was concerned. My focus was focal length for walk-around photography. I'm not neither colour expert nor pro photographer. Indeed 17-55 is great lens but i like the color and IQ on 24-105 than 17-55 that's all.

Just got my 7d about a week ago! Hmm got tamron 17-50 and a canon 28mm prime. Was deciding between sigma 30mm but I'm the end got the canon prime :) enjoyed both lens! And next aiming for my telephoto.. Most likely to be canon 70-200 L exactly which one still not sure yet still researching.. Any opinions ?

Many thanks in advance !
