mpenza.. are there any other good flashes for this camera other than Vivatar 285, Metz 32?? and SB 24?

perhaps you want to indicate the budget you have in mind for flashes? The ones listed are pretty powerful and cost >$100. There're weaker ones, e.g. Achiever 260T which could work too.

if sb24's top notch for 602, then I might get something like that. I heard that even the better flashes can have problems with incompatible cameras, read that somewhere on the forum.

Besides SB24, other Nikon flashes like SB25, SB26, SB28, SB28DX, SB80DX will work too. The caveat is that besides the SB28, SB28DX and SB80, all the others can only be found in the resale market. Once the flash is spoilt spoilt, you may have to replace them.

The powerful and versatile Metz 40 series should work fine too but they're also pretty expensive (>$400 brandnew).

How much are those? Higher numbers, so they should be more ex right?

They have more features, however not all can be used by the 602Z (a lot relate to TTL functions for Nikon cameras). Only the built-in bounce card and 18mm/20mm would be of any use (but I think pretty limited). Did see a SB25 listed for $200 (cheap!) in a shop opp Fotoguide but not too sure of the condition (it looks ok cosmetically). SB26 generally sell for >$300. SB28 $350 and higher.

hmm.... to add on: compared to the earlier models, SB 28 is smaller, more compact and more efficient on the use of batteries. If money is no object, you might even want to consider a new one (>$400)....

mpenza just wonder are u using ur home-made bounce card or buy one? if home-made how u attach it to ur SB24?

If I use one, I would just use rubber band ;p But I think I'll just stick with the diffuser for now.

You can find some very useful info abt Nikon speedlites SB-24. 25. 26 here
