Woah! Looks like my plans to come back to Digital SLR has to be put on hold. Was just about to spring for 2 big long ones. Oh well, I suppose it's back to the old, obsolete stuff.

Cheers,

cool sh!t.. the price finally increases.. only for lens so far right?

lets all not buy.. and wait for the price comes down..

Fortunately for me, I just revamped all my stuff in Feb because people have been talking about this price hike. I really wanted to have the 17-55 f/2.8 and the 70-200 f/4 IS. Now I do. So, I sold all the stuff I don't need in Feb, and got everything I need. I even ordered the B+W Keasemann CPL from Amazon because SGD is on a depreciating trend. ;)

It is here finally - the final showdown.

Prices have gone up. The price increase will have a major impact on hobbyists, and not professionals because the former are the ones are who constantly buying due to upgrading, pursuing of latest gadgets, etc. Consumer segment contributed the major sale revenue. With the price hike, many of them will put on hold the next purchases.

Bro, I guess that even if you buy from UK will be the same, right? The price hike is globally.

Please share the ones that you know...

EQuote by CP, without GST, on 25 Feb

2. Canon Lens EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM @S$1295.00 (price had been revised)

It's not so bad... I was quoted S$1226 for the 17-55 without GST before the hike. So, the hike is much less than 20% as some have described.

Wow...the more I read this thread, the luckier I feel. All thanks to MSColor good advice.

Checked the price for 50mm 1.4 yesterday with CP-M and was quoted $595 including GST. I believe it used to be $520 before the hike. J3:16 was going for $570.

I understand from the dude at Alan Photo that this hike is only "popular" lenses. Bodies are not hiked up (for now).

Yes. For now it's only lenses and accessories.

I am not so sure. Reading the forums in Malaysia, there is a 5% increase in body price too. But, of course, it could be shops taking advantage to push up the prices for bodies too.

What i was told yesterday, DSLR bodies have not increase price yet.

In another note, yesterday when i was at AP Funan chatting with my friend, i just asked how much is the 800 f/5.6L IS, was quoted $17K+ before GST, so after is $18K+. :p
