Prices for Canon DSLR cameras

40D for $1350 at john 3:16 with the usual freebies, the $1280 price was just Body, without the freebies. Cash. Yup.

Just bought a 450D from John 3:16.
Tough time deciding between 450D and 40D.
Anyway, prices were:

450D + 18-55 kit lens: $1150
40D + 18-55 kit lens: $1520 (But stock ran out. Prob can get stock by tomorrow)

Bally Photo offered $1490 for 40D. But when wanted to put down cash, they declared it was pre-GST. So turned and left. But on hindsight, even if it were post GST, better to go with John 3:16. Better service, cheerful staff, helpful despite the crowd and happy to give objective advice.

Oh, and AP only has 40D with dual lens kit. Can't remember price - just remember it was over my budget.

For those who do not mind saving a couple hundreds for an export set (new but no local warranty), there's a shop along the Cathy Photo stretch (closer to mainroad) that's selling it for $1350 or so.

Oh and please don't tell me - should have gone with 40D etc etc!!

you just saved yourself $370 to spend on tripod, dri cabinet, CF cards and bag. haha!
Maybe even a EF-S 55-250mm IS ($350 at B&S) lens to complete the range.

I actually havent got my dslr, i am planning to get nikon d90 but a friend of mine is selling off his canon 450d due to he is going to army. He bought his canon is also 2nd hand so is he is the 2nd owner and if he pass over to me i will be the 3rd owner. Back to 6mth ago he bought the full set for about 1.5k i dunnno what was incl inside. Now he planning to let go 1/2 price. I am not too sure izzit a good grab for the item. I know he love his canon and i assume he take good care of it. I thought of getting it and play with it 1st since i have no knowladage of DSLR, once i get hold on it then i upgrade the camara. A lot of time i am in the rush to buy the camara cause i really love shooting but thinking of long term investment in the enquirment it totally hold me back. I hope someone can give me a good basic guide for canon item as most of the time i only get feedback for nikon. I am not saying that canon is not a good camara but i think it will be a good camara for me to start of my DSLR life.
