Same experience here for the 40D body only (no extras, specifically mentioned before requesting quote) - MS Color E-Quote $1580. Went down to CP today and after some discussion they insisted their best price was really $1599, no chance of getting anything lower. This is not the first time I get quoted a significantly higher price at CP compared to what's mentioned here in the forum, while other shops' quotes are usually quite accurate

Try amazon. There is a big discount on 40D in US. It is US$939.95 for body alone. At current exchange rate, it is approx S$1284.

For the rebates, check out canon USA website.

Just work out if the shipping and warranty suits you.

if going through amazon and not getting the warranty is desired, why not get a grey set here? World wide store grey set is $1350 for 40d. Dunno safe or not.

oh ya, it seems that bargaincity always do bundle deals like free memory card, battery, dry cabinet, tripod, lcd protector, etc..
is it better to get the dslr with the bundle deal from them?

(i'm saving up to buy my very first dslr so i'm just calculating which is more worth it)

1) go for the bundle if u need those free stuffs
2) Get the kit if u are gonna use the kitlens and get better lens in future
3) Get body and lens seperate if you arnt interested in the kitlens, and would like to jump straight to better lenses.

Guys, I realise that a lot of grey/export set prices aren't listed here. I have been in the market looking for a Canon 40D for a while already. This particular thread has been fabulous and totally useful for me. But now, I have sort of decided to go for a Grey/Export set with the USM kit lens. Grey prices are readily available in this thread for direct comparison and if they are, being side by side with the local set prices also misleads.

I went there yesterday but the sales person was simply reluctant to give any discount on the RRP:$1999.

Any updates on the good prices outside of the PC Show? ;p

I'm sure abt that "Canon themself selling the stuffs" but I definity got a discount from IT Show before. I wld say actually depends on the Dealers that are running the Canon Booth.

Cos I was offered $2780 for a Canon 40D Kit 2 (RRP:$2999) the previous show & I heard that 1 of our fellow CSers got the 40D Kit 2 @ $2500.

I have went to Jp harvey norman,price for 40D kit II comes with dry cabinet,2gb,4gb card,tripod, bag, lens book,lcd protector,cleaning kit, filter,extra batt........Went to suntec they give extra digital photo frame both selling at 2599....But experience lens problem at Jp and there is no more stock at suntec branch....
