Prices for Canon DSLR cameras

For Japan sets, the warranty for SLRs in valid in Japan, accessories like lens and grips etc, are international warranty. You need to request for english instruction manual and request for tax rebate and additional discount if possible.

Comparing 17-85mm versus 18-55mm package is not so accurate. Buying in package is definitely cheaper than buying SLR and lens for this 17-85mm package.

Zoom lens prices depends on the many factors like focal length range, the aperture range or ef lens or ef-s lens.

for sports, most probably you need a telephoto lens, dpending on your budget. plus how far would u be sitting from the swimmers. If you are far, u need 300mm and up telephoto lens. You can buy consumer zooms up to 300mm or professional zoom ie L lens that costs thousands. You need bump up the iso so that you use faster shutter speed to capture the swimmer in actions.

For sports, i prefer to use 30D because of the high fps. =)

Just got a quote form Alan Photo from simlim yesterday. Best price for the 40D with the 17-85mm lens is $2400 exclude GST. It comes with 2 GB CF and the bag. Still considering very much if i should get. Im afraid of under use and impulse buying.

Yeah, its the same thing, just double check that you get the standard Canon Warranty as well as the Canon promo items that are currently advertised. FYI, you should get two pieces of warranty (one for your body and one for your lens). Sim Lim Square has alot of dealers which sell export (or grey) sets without warranty, so you might save about $100, but you got a real problem on your hands once something goes wrong...

I got mine at Bargain City (www.bargaincity.com.sg). They're trustworthy and all sets come with warranty. Their bundle looks pretty good, you can check them out...
