Prices for Canon DSLR cameras

Hello everyone,
To get infos from you all Singapura. Over here I'm using ESO 30D which cause me expensive bought in France. Lens marco very expensive too!! Somehow the pictures is nice, and not too complicated to use, but to have a nice photo that will have to see how good is our fingers technique.

I was told that Canon will guarantee these only locally.. which makes it suspect quality ?

While the price difference between here and there is almost 20%, this issue with limited area guarantee makes me wonder if it is worth it.

any thoughts or previous experience.. please share.

HK has no gst for their goods, and SG has gst.. that's one reason.. SG sell @ 4450 with 7% gst.. and SG has import taxes imposted by govt on imported goods..

Why dun get from OP,Grey Set around this price. Futhermore the shop guranteee you,not
Singapore Canon of course,maybe Shanghai Canon.

Cameras nd lens for most of the brand are cheaper in HK. e.g. 10mm -20mm is about Sing$680 and in Singapore it is selling at abt $800.

i asked MS Color just 2 days ago and they quoted me $1950. That's still very high considering that CNET Asia said the price of the 40D will be $2009 :dunno:

Which Shops?

Try Orient Photo at Sim Lim Sq level 5...it's a grey set with 1 year shop warranty@S$1130 if bargain a bit. No freebies.
May not be that worth it as local set with 2GB CF card is going around S$1200 exclusive of GST.

Today,I called Hoon Cheong Electronics Pte Ltd #01-34 Tel: 63387700 to check the 400D body only. Quoted by Suzzane and Derrick S$967 inculsive of GST at 4:30pm. I was so happy with the price that I immediately rush down to buy it.

At the shop, the guy Derrick told another guy to serve me. Keep on asking me to get the 400D with kit len 18-55mm at 1200+. However, when i ask for the body@S$967, they told me no stocks. Told me last set taken away just be4 i come and told me to wait until next week. I felt that they are lying because after i left the shop, i return back to leave my contact number with them. Told them to place an order as I need it by next week. Guess what Derrick said, "Not sure if the stock coming, u come and check, can't place order." I was like...OMG...terrible. Where in the world can't place order for customer?

At least Orient Photo sales-folks are sincere and nice with customers. I can't stand Singaporean salesman service. (By the way, I'm Singaporean and also in Sales line but I don't do such things).

Confirm that they received quite a number of negative feedback on that shop, and the sales manager might want to drop them off the dealer list.

End of the day, I felt lousy and might decide to jump to Nikon Camp.
Nikon pricing is more controlled.
