I thought the difference was $10... that's quite worth making a trip to Funan to save that $10 IMO.

Think I should go with EG too. :)

Be careful near EG. The magic/witchcraft shop. Quite scary. :D

ok you win. ;p

Managed to get last piece at $25 from MS on sunday but it's a made in china rating 1500mAh batt. Not sure when the stock is coming.

When I go my 7D, AP gave me an extra batt (i think labelled at $70). Later I bought another one from Eastgear at $34.

Guess what, the Eastgear batt which cost half the price of the AP one last twice as long. Hence, my first team consists of KM batt, Eastgear on the bench and AP batt has been demoted to the reserves.

My past experience of replacement Li-Ion battery of Panasonic FZ5 from AP also not good, it last 70% as the original one, although it claim to have double the capacity on the battery, while other feedback Eastgear battery is similar to original one on panasonic forum.

The Eastgear's NP400 I bought is almost as lasting as the original one.

Looks like EG wins hands down. Luckily I didn't get from AP or the no brand ones from Comex.

Question. I think there were different reports of EG NP400 with different battery power ratings. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi,
Those who bought from EG, can you post its brand (if there is one) and its rating?

It has a green label that says EastGear. Rated at 1700mAh. Same voltage. There's only one model from EastGear, so u can't go wrong there as long as it is green and says EastGear on it.

Hi All,

I am planing to get a spare battery. Is the East Gear battry rate with 1700mAh?

any idea if this battery come to Malaysia?

Yes it is rated 1700mAh, and no I dun know if it is sold in M'sia although I dun see why not... can check out their website. www.eastgear.com, they claim to ship to anywhere in the world within 3 days.

Hi,

Thanks for the site, i been to the site before. it mention only 1500. anyway I'll go down and buy one since I am very ofthen going down to Sg

I'm actually going Vietnam for 5 days later this month and contemplating whether to get a spare battery NP400 for my 5D.

If I charge the battery everynight, does it affect the battery lifespan and performance considering that this is a Li-On battery?

Sure you can charge it every night, as lithium ion battery claim to have almost no memory wear kind of effect, so it shouldn't affect the battery performance.
But something a bit contradictory is what they claim lithium ion battery has 500 times recharge cycle only, doesn't that mean the more charging cycle it gone through, the shorter the life left?

On the safe side, I would get a spare battery, for the sake of convenient also.

Yes, I also heard Li-on has a fixed recharging cycle. I guess it all depends on how often you use the camera - for those weekend shutterbugs, the battery may even outlast the cam itself. Yup - I'll go for the spare battery:)
