So many of you have bought the D90 recently. Was it important to you that the Camera should have been sealed packed unopened condition?? How does one make sure it is not abused at the store by salesman and other customers??

how come the price and free gift is so different when i ask them today

some more it's 3 weeks later
probably freebies no stock liao.. haha
anyway i got nothing other than the lexar 4GB after some bargaining..
oh well.. i may just not good in bargaining.

hi Guys,

- just got to know this forum, VERY GOOD~!

anyway just bought (25oct08):
- d90 kit + 4gb lexar 1670 (cash only) few stores away from lord (beside money changer)
- same thing, seems to be related to lords too, nets payment even have to go lords

*Updates:
- but after much testing at home (average lightings + no flash), discover one obvious hot pixel
- no stock on hand for exchange but 1-1 promise by their friendly staff: Sam after holiday.

BTW, i have a feeling that this cam have hot pixels issue under low lightings?

Sorry TS,

Like all other digital cameras, the D40 D50 D60 D80 are prone to hot pixels. Individual cameras vary... some will have them, others won't. My D80 has one or two, but they only appear when the camera has warmed up a little.

The reason you're not seeing them in long exposures is because Long Exposure NR removes them. If you try a 30 minute exposure without Long Exp. NR, the result will be very very different. Unfortunately, Long Exp. NR doesn't have an effect on short exposures, so unless you take an exposure of more than 8 seconds on the D90 the hot pixel won't be removed.

It's not a "first batch" problem. Hot pixels at a high ISO setting is a fairly common occurrence... hot pixels at a low ISO setting are much less common. Some photographer may turn up and send their camera back to Nikon to have hot pixels mapped out.

This is an ongoing problem for digital camera owners of all makes. The best solution is one that some manufacturers already provide: a way for the end user to perform the maintenance that Nikon's service centre currently performs.

Thanks mate for the clarifications.

at least now i know its a common issue and i shall forget about it in no time.

cheers

Hi

New to this forum, I'm not too sure if anybody asked this question already. But I'm interested in getting the 18-105VR, I wonder if its sold separately and how much would it roughly cost?

Can I get one at about S$350 and where can I get it cheaply?

Pardon the questions.

Thanks!

leo

If you dont mind second hand. Im sure you can find people selling it at B/S nikon section .. for $350 .. i think it should be in range... But for a brand new one??? Maybe some others can give you some updates..

Sorry to say but even when any shop bring a seal box doesn't mean its truly never been open for try before.
One day i was walking by a shop and to my surprise i saw a guy packing a product back in the box and guess what they had a full pack of those seal printed which they stick back after a customer try the product and decide not to buy it.
This makes you wonder if those product you buy are really brand new or not :dunno:
But as long as you have your full warranty i think no one would mind.

You could pick up the kit at around $1670 plus minus at the camera shops. With 1 year local Nikon warranty. register online and you'll get 3 months of extra warranty.

:bsmilie:

yea TS, the price sucks! Can get cheaper elsewhere :)

and it just suddenly occured to me.. if its a D300 with the 18-200 kit for 1899.. i wun even need to think already.

4 sets for me please!:angel::angel:
