Price for D90

$11 for a filter sounds a little too cheap. It's like playing DVD on a HD Screen not fully utilising the best of it's ability.

I agree with your point about using super-cheapo filters. Maybe it is more like playing BluRay HD video on SD television?

Can i ask u a qns? I am not sure why my autofocus is not activated, instead i can focus using manual focus....i set the button to AF instead of M but still cannot autofocus..

The body has a AF and M selector, so does your lens A and M. Make sure u select AF on the body and A on your lens. Pls ask again if still cannot activated

oh sorry i am new, erm...how to know if i have correctly selected AF on the body...i just press the AF button but how to make sure that it is on AF? What abt the AE-L and AF-L button? does that affect anything? Thanks!!

i encounter this b4, switch off the system, remove the lens, attach it back, then set to AF on lens and body, then try again

Thanks guys for your help! After removing the len and putting it back, manage to activate the autofocus liao! Phew! i tot what happen to my camera, only 1 day old..haha thanks!!

i just got my nikon d90 with 18-105mm len kit from SLR revolution in funan. these are the items i got:

D90 with kit - $1638 w GST
kingston 8gb class 4 SDHC - $24
uv filter - $11

total damage $1672

u can look for hanwei in the shop, friendly seller. fyi, shop only open for a week...haha

before buying, i went to other shops in funan...done my homework...these prices are for ur references..

John 3:16 - $1770 with no freebies
Bally photo - $1750 with tripod, 8gb, bag
alan photo - $1670 with no freebies
harvey norman (left one stock) - $1899 with bag, tripod and 8gb
challenger - $1800+ (cant rmb how much exactly) with lowepro 190AW bag, tripod and 8gb

i also ask an equote from ms colour...they selling at $1699 with icase, 4gb and tripod.
as for audio house, it's still so ex..$1988 with a LOT of freebies like 8gb, tripod, cleaning kit, screen protector, drybox etc etc etc...

btw, challenger selling the lowepro 190AW bag for $148 but when i go back to slr revolution, it's only $48...wth, price differs by so much loh...the guy says they buy the bags in bulk so can give customers cheaper price... but i din buy the bag as i have one liao.

so excited, have not read the manual yet...so far i am using canon 450d, now change to nikon, need to get use to it and learn all controls again. :sweat:

I just got mine at SLR Revolution as well for 1638! Most competitive price I've seen so far.

Also bought a uv filter at 11.

Guy there was quite friendly, only small problem was 1638 was for cash only, had to go draw, but I'm nitpicking here..

So happy with my d40 upgrade. XD

Congrats. I hope you know by now that you can actually bargin price in Challenger? I did so for the 55-200VR lens and got it down to almost CS price guide prices.

And as for your $11 filter, I think it should be fine until you start to find ghosting and flaring in your pictures. After you see those and get irritated by them, go ahead and get a better filter. And remember 2 things about the UV filter, 1. Take it off when shooting at night with bright lights, 2. Take off UV filter before attaching other filters like CPL, ND, GND... etc...
