Finally...
just bought D90 yesterday from Funan....
price 1697 ( 2 X 4GB ; nikon leather bag; GST refund)...
got the CNY promotion there...
good choice??

Good news. I went to the shops and get the best price of d90 including John, Bally photo and even Harv Norman in Funan. Interestingly, John had higher price: 1660 for the kit with 4gb card. If I pay by cash in Harv Norman, I could get it by 1650 even with tripod, lowepro 190g bag. Bally photo also have simily price. I have not decide where to buy. any sugesstions? Thanks

You mean Harvey Norman is able to slash their RRP of $1988 down to $1650?

depends on how affluent you are and how much you expect out of the hobby. i'm thinking of buying a DSLR for a good friend, but after much consideration, i would think a 2nd hand D80 (<$900) but a set of fast prime 50mm f/1.8 and large aperture 18-50mm f/2.8 works better for someone who is not so much into photography but need low light capability indoor for her baby. but if it is for myself, i would buy a D90 ($1400)... when i need to travel. i owned a D50 at the moment, and roughly know what i need to upgrade on.

buy later price will not drop much. how long you intend to wait. 6mths? 1 year? 2 year? you may or may not see differences in 6mths. you will have small savings if you wait a year. you will have more savings if you wait 2 year. you will save a lot if you wait 2 year and buy a 2nd hand camera.

Harvey Norman at Funan really sells at $1650 if u pay cash but too bad no stock at the moment.

Got my D90 from John 3:16 at Funan IT mall today. Body + kit lens 18-105mm + 50mm f1.8 + 8GB SD card + lowepro bag at $1870:bsmilie:
