Hey everyone,

Thinking of getting D90 as my first SLR.. have been using a panasonic fz50..

Thinking also of getting a nikkor 18-200 instead of the kit lens since i heard the kit lens not that great.

Recently also heard the prices of Nikon cameras cheaper in Japan.

Would it be a good idea to get from Japan? Warranty and all that any problem?

If get locally, would the shops let me get the 18-200 lens as a bundle or there's not much discount you reckon?

Thanks in advance! =]

The kit lens is a 18-105mm VR compared to 18-200mm VR it all depends whether do u need the extra distance.

Nikon bodies have no international warranty but the lenses have it.

There is a little bit design issue for 18-200 lens, if you do a search in this forum, so you may like to put that for consideration.

Personally I would prefer 16-85mm (or 18-135mm) with a 70-300mm instead.

Cheers!

It's better to wait for the D90 body only if you intend to get the 18-200mm lens.

I would recommend getting a local warranty set for just that piece of mind.

But at the end of the day it is up to you whether you're a play it safe or a betting man.

HTH.

I planning to get Nikon D90 too. But really hope the lens is 18mm to 200mm. Do u think its possible to ask the shop staff to change and top up the difference?

You can try but unlikely.:dunno:

A camera is only as good as it's user.. buy what you NEED.. not what you think has the most functions for the money. The thing is some functions people hardly use.. Plus, buying either, you have to decide what system you are gonna commit into. Think about which brand, canon or nikon, has a more accessible range of lenses for you which you might upgrade to..

as for the review, the reviewer had D lighting set active. What it does it balance a scene to have more dynamic range than contrast. Notice the slight details in the shadows of the trees versus a blackish patch on the 450D. If he wants contrast, D lighting should be off anyway.

Hey i just happen to see this add but it seems that's it can't be true anyway just letting you guys knw as they even give a sg number to call
