that has got to be him
but i wonder, who is driving? if ss, how does he know sg roads? haha

hahaha
u may doubt that but the secret service has been known to plan things ahead.
I bet they have been trained to maneuvering the singapore streets weeks or even months ahead. then have already planned an escape route or any evasive or defensive means necessary. they are trained to be always a step ahead to every possible threat.

and that limo in the photo? U may not even be sure if he's in it or its just the decoy vehicle

who knows, probably the secret service used Google Maps to plan everything ahead... :D:D

the entire route to the next destination is closed juz for one person.

he is not welcome!

You don't know what the city of Washington, D.C. suffers from daily because of the President of the United States.

Isn't the windows suppose to be tinted black?

His windows cannot be tinted black because the President wants to be seen. At 1-2 inch thick i think it is a tint itself.

Anyway, Secret service do plan months in advance and whenever ideal 6 months. But Obama's trip was announced only in August.

As for familiarity to the roads, the driver only has to follow the lead car (normally local police), the local police already have the routes approved by SS.

I don't think the limou driver have a brain good enough to memorise things like "turn left at Ang Mo Kio and enter CTE, exit at Cavenagh and turn left on Orchard and left turn again into Istana"

Not to mention that he might be the same person from Japan and going to China the next day. Given that they would have only so many drivers.

Ideally the motorcade wants to maintain 90km/h, so roads are closed way in advance maybe 4-5 minutes before passing by.

Off topic a bit.

I think Obama should come in our comfort cab. So that from the aerial view, no one would know it's the president. Even at the ground level, with the camouflage capability of our cab, no one will know.

What they just need to do is make number of the car plate changeable, something like the jackpot where it rolls to change the number.

However, the disadvantage is that, Obama need to pay the ERP....

Nice one. Mayb VIP dun have to pay for ERP. LOL. Imagine there are like thousands of blue cab on the road. How to locate him? LOL

driver just need to follow the car infront...
i'm quite sure you can also do that...

furthermore, the roads that he is travelling will be closed and its really a no brainer job for the driver...

he landed on sat, so anybody know where he spend the night?

Very poor photography.

That's quite uncalled for, especially if it's a non-predictable situation of which this fits it. TS may not have produced a very good and clean picture of the Presidential Motorcade, but it's definitely worth commending him for sharing it.

Having an FX camera does not mean you are able to capture pictures in the dark of the night successfully and sharply. There are limitations to your camera too.

No offence to bro zzmaimai, but perhaps you should consider the situation before posting critics of this kind.

Agreed. We're all learning, and I guess TS can gauge for himself the quality of his photos if he's not prepared.

Shoot more, learn more, and critique in a nice way. :)

The Presidential entourage and convey is often led by our Traffic Police, with the US Secret Service in their GMCs trailing behind. That explains why they know how to navigate in streets of foreign countries.

On every arrival of AF1 and the POTUS, they will stay at Shangri-La off Orange Grove Road, as per what is observed. Most probably due to security reasons and the option of ease to close off roads leading to the hotel when necessary.

:)

Which picture is poor photography?

I think bro zzmaimai is referring to the initial picture posted by TS. It's a tad blur and not focused - but glad TS caught that shot to share.

hahah..I know

Think again, I find that zzmaimai shouldn't commented that the photography is poor. As the situation does not allow good photography. It's just unexpected. In addition, i believe TS would just like to showcase the Cadillac One. He is with a reportage intention. So what photography style does zzmaimai is implying? Bokeh, Composition or what?

zzmaimai, Please enlighten us why it is considered as very poor photography? :dunno:

Haha... well said. Perhaps he wanted bokehs behind the Cadillac ;p TS probably didn't boost ISO high enough to catch the car, but it was still great to catch a glimpse of the car.

yes zzmaimai, kindly enlighten the rest of the community on the fine line between good and poor photography :bsmilie:
