Is it okay if I just wipe the lens with spectacle cloth? I accidentally touched it........:embrass:

heyyz.....
just got a S3 2 weeks ago and discovered that one of the navigation buttons was abit " loose".
it didnt have the slight click u get when u press the other buttons.
i went down to canon for service and they asked me to collect my camera in 8 days time.
when i went back to collect my S3, they said they replace the camera cover. However, the problem was still there! moreover, he told me that that had been a problem in the S3 models.
i'm just really frustrated now, i paid good money for this camera. The pictures are good, its just that little button defect.

Just wondering, if anyone also has this problem with their navigation buttons...

Thx alot Diver5007 for ya info... By the way, wat brand is ya 52mm cir polariser from TCW ??
How's the performance? Will the image quality or sharpness be affected by the use of the filter??

Also is there a diff in using either the 52mm or 58mm? Sorry for the noob question, but I cant really find any info on tat... Was looking for one CPL that I can use next time if I'm upgrading to DSLR. So is 52mm or the 58mm beta?

Sigh.... Headache.....

Yesterday i was using my S3 to take pic on my newborn but it appear to be blur or loss of detail shown on my LCD and viewfinder. I use micro shot mode but still the same.

Hi all,

...........

Photo was blur as macro mode in S3IS is for shooting objects from 3.9 inches to 1.6 feet. (I think)

Super macro mode is from 0 to 3.9 inches.

So you do not need to set your cam to macro mode when shooting baby.

oic.. Cause I wan a closeup photo shot on my baby...

Even at Protriat mode it still the same....

So is the light insufficient cause the blurness cos at hospital the room is quite dim plus i not using my flash and AF lighting....

S3IS is not very good with focussing at low lighting. If you half press the shutter button n it keeps "hunting" without being able to lock on focus and give you the green box in the middle to show it is focussed, you probably need to at least allow the AF assist lamp to come on. Even if the green box comes on, you may want to check if the picture looks clear in the LCD screen as it may have focussed wrongly. If you can, try to allow a little more light into the room. It may help.

Actually, I am not sure if your practice is a good idea in our humid climate. Depending on how low a temperature you set for your aircon, you may find that when you off the aircon in the day, due to the fact your cam has become cold thru the night, and combined with the humid air it gets in contact with once you off the aircon, some condensation may actually occur. If you don't use the cam very frequently, you should try to invest in a drybox of some kind. If you read the manual, you should also see advice that when you move from one place to another with very diff temp, you should allow the cam to slowly "adapt" to the new temp so as to prevent condensation. One method to do that is to keep it in a sealed ziplock for example so that the cam will not experience the sudden temp change.

Your cam may actually be  every morning... take care of it.

OIC!! :) .. thnxs alot!!!

been keep fustrated with the AF this 2 days, read through manual and lastly even thinking of sending to Canon for servicing..

Actually i know early that S3 when zooming, the AF will keep 'hunting' but jusz can't imagine it is soooo fustrated!!!

Another problem...

When I choose either Aperture or Shutter Priority, the auto choosing of others side for both is quite bad....
Can always see "red camera" flashing on bottom left corner....
when "camera" icon stop flashing, result is not ideal...:(

anyone encounter that?

Hi XxboxX, IIRC, even in Portrait mode, you can still activate super/macro mode (by pressing the Flower button). Just make sure you dun see the flower icon in the EVF and you are not in macro mode. Take note of the focus distant for S3 and use the right mode:

Super macro : 0cm-10cm
Macro : 10cm - 50cm
Normal : 50cm - Infinity.

Actually, if you dun mind a bit of noise, just push up the ISO, but I wont go beyond ISO400 lah. Some example of low light shooting of baby, all are with just natural/flouracent light without flash.

Hi all.
wow, price of S3 dropping like stone, my sis who stayed in US bought S3 from US for me at US$380, tot i have a good buy. until i asked ard, AP in funan quoted me S$630/- with 1G SD and charger (i went yesterday)... oh btw, i bought the S3 casing from AP in funan (because the one from US came with nothing), quite nice although not the leather one. but wa quoted 18, then i told her clubsnap forum say 15 (thanks forum), then she sell me at 15 immediately. but then, i am very happy with S3, still playing around with the camera function, the photo quality is definitely much better than my previous Kodak camera...;)

Did you try pushing up your ISO? "red cam" means lighting not good...
