Powershot S3 IS

I think the price of the S3 may be dropping. Earlier this week, a friend claimed that she was offered $740 by Song Bros in Funan. Today, another friend paid $760 at Paris Silk inclusive of the Canon 7-in-1 bag. Since I reckon that bag cost about $15, the purchase price for the camera would be about $745.

All prices inclusive of GST and a free 512MB SD card.

It could be due to the coming IT show......

I cannot quite remember, but I think the "Date Modified" entry is changed from the date/time you took the picture to the date/time you used the Canon software to download the pictures or movies.

On every trip, all of use synchronise our cameras to the same date/time and after every trip, we will put all the pics and movies together in chronological order for sorting. We can't use Date Picture Taken because there is no such entry for movies. So, we use Date Modified which is the same date. But it is all changed if you use the Canon software.
Yeah, its due to how Windows works. I prefer my method of asking the software to add the date to the front, so even my movies will have a date on it. Also, your files will be more 'unique' so when you pass them around, less chance of people with similar file names overwriting your files. I know, maintain proper directory structure & you will not have this problem, but some people have really messy hard drives....

Recently bought the s3. Quite happy with until I download onto pc for viewing. Was quite disappointed with the noise at iso 800. Here is an example.

In fact, anything above 400 is already quite noisy.

Welcome comments from others who are already using the cam.

Abit OT but sure looks like ACS abv the canteen where I used to sit more than 12 years ago.

Hi LastBoltNut,

You may want to try Total Commander for batch file renaming and it's easy to use. You can add counters, prefix, suffix, replace characters, etc. Try downloading from http://www.ghisler.com to try. I don't use this for my digital photos but for other file types.

For my photo-cataloguing & batch renaming, I use Thumbsplus (from http://www.cerious.com) which somehow works well with my digital photos' exif data (from all my past & current Canon models G3, G5, Ixus 700, Ixus 750 & Ixus 800IS), especially with the auto-rotate function. You can use the auto-renaming function here as well.

Try it if you want and good luck!

Hey mohdya,

Thanx for the tips! R they both freeware? Or must I buy? How different are they that you use them for different purpose?

Thank you again!
