I have just calculated the storage size of the video file. At best setting, 1Gb can capture about 8.6mins only!!

Just to share my experience, since I have been using the S1 to capture all my holiday videos since a few years back.

I always use VGA at 15 fps and not the highest 30 fps setting. It is good enough. And I use a 2GB card with another 1GB card as spare. That gives me about 18 mins of video per 1GB. More than enough. We normally shoot short clips of 30 secs to at most 2 mins. Delete those that you do not want. At the end of the day, download to notebook.

I was just wondering: this camera comes with IS right? What is the lowest shutter speed one can use (assuming reasonable holding, breathing technique) without getting motion problems?

Yah, I always re-code DVD to 15fps for my viewing on my PDA, no prob. But was reluctant to reduce from 30 to 15 fps to permanently loose the quanlity......At home, it is easy, can always re-code to better compression and keep. But on the move is the prob......hopefully SD card price will come tumbly down this June during the IT show.:bsmilie:

2. Take out the SD card and use a card reader

USB Cable, I make the canon software rename all my files with the date as a prefix.

Heh! I haven't even install the canon software......was thinking if I keep taking out the SD card, will it spoil the contact sooner......thanks.

I always take out the card and use the card reader, previously external but now built-in notebook. No problems at all. I think it is faster and more efficient. I recall that when I last tried to upload the pictures via the camera, some of the file properties were changed. I did not like it. Not sure if it is still like this.

I use usb cable to transfer pics to my notebook runing on XP. I did not installed the canon software.

I cannot quite remember, but I think the "Date Modified" entry is changed from the date/time you took the picture to the date/time you used the Canon software to download the pictures or movies.

On every trip, all of use synchronise our cameras to the same date/time and after every trip, we will put all the pics and movies together in chronological order for sorting. We can't use Date Picture Taken because there is no such entry for movies. So, we use Date Modified which is the same date. But it is all changed if you use the Canon software.
