Let me add my list

Camera Body + Lensmate 58 mm adapter + Hoya UV filter (Adapter is on all the time)
Ranynox DCR 250 + Lensmate 58 mm adapter (Yeah, I have two adapters)
Hoya R72 IR filter
1 set spare Sanyo 2500 NiMH
1 set Sony 2100 NiMH
Some lens cleaning paper
The free Canon micro tripod (Wish I had a better one)
White card for White balance
Translucent film canister (as a flash diffuser)

All in a nice Lowpro Photorunner that I got as a present :)

I carry it with me everyday. My friends with dSLRs cannot do that. Bag also allows me to take my camera out quickly & start shooting. Can fit my wallet, keys & mobile in there.

Post in the IR forum, people there are very friendly. What I do is put the filter on, compose my shot. I will then zoom into any part of the picture that is white. Say some trees or grass. Custom white balance on this. Then zoom out, take the picture. I know I am doing something wrong somewhere as my unprocessed pictures still do not come out like some of the other S2 users out there. Need to find some time on a sunny weekend to go try it out.

Buy Buy Buy!

Gd'day all, i'm new to the forum and am very interested in getting the S3. As a matter of fact i'm pretty much set on it. Was considering the Sony DSC-H2 but decided to get canon instead. Just need to ask 3 questions:

1. Estimates of how many pics can I fit into a 1GB file at the highest settings (Max res/quality). Need to decide if I should buy a 1GB or 2GB card. I should be going with kingston high speed (50x).

2. Any recommended battery and charger? I've read thru the whole thread and sanyo seems to be the popular choice. Estimates of how many shots w/wo flash with lcd on?

3. Is the warranty international?

I should be getting the camera once i'm back in sg next mth, can't wait... Read that most got theirs from AP, will head there then.
Thanks to the pros in advance and cheers.

1GD can accomodate 383 pic with max settings.

Buy the Maha 401 charger with powerex 2500 batteries... reliable and long lasting... Price now i think has increased from $69 to $79 for one charger and 8 batteries. It can take you about 500 shots.

3. Is the warranty international?

I guess so.

Thanks for the info wishxtreme, i guess i'll go for the 2GB card then cause 383 pics cant last me one holiday... One more question about the batteries, is there a cheaper alternative to the maha 401? I don't think i would want to pay 70+ bucks for a battery charger, i'm looking at perhaps $40+ range for a decent charger?
Also, i saw some mention for a dry box, is it necessary for this camera considering that the lens is not a removable one thus no risk of moisture getting into the parts?

For my i will buy two 1GB SD card just in case one get corrupted and you are stuck with no card.. always have a back up card if necessary.. you nv know what will happen.. Any way the 1 GB card cost $50.90 and the 2GB card cost $103.90, thus getting two 1GB is much is about the same price.. The brand is kingston ultimate.

Do a search on the brands of batteries here in the forum and you can see the recomended one.. Example is Powerex, Sanyno, energizer etc... but the price range is about the same.. It is expensive due to the quick charger. It take about 1.5hrs to 2 hrs to fully charge 4 batteries using Maha401.

As for the dry box, this is the first thing that you need to buy. Read thru this thread http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=193856&highlight=vacuum+box

how much is the dry box?

There are alot of diff dry box which cater to diff users. From as cheap ast 15+++ to a few hundred..

It all depends on what do you want..

You can either go to CP or Carrefour and see some dry box or you can order online at www.digicab.com

Are you going to take videos on your S3? If you do, like many of us, even 4GB is not going to be enough to last your entire holiday. You need to bring along your notebook or portable card reader to download your pictures. But if you are taking only pictures, then 2GB should be fine.

For batteries, I normally buy the Sanyo quick charger that comes with four 2500 mAh rechargeables. Cost about $40 at Alan Photo. You probably need another four batteries as spares. Each about $3. The "quick" charger is misleading as it can take about 3 to 4 hours to charge all four batteries. If charge only 2 batteries, then maybe slightly over an hour. There are some really quick chargers that can charge in 15 mins or 1 hour but they are more expensive and have less functions.

This Sanyo charger comes with refresh function, which is useful. It can charge both AAs and AAAs. It is small and compact, and takes both 110 as well as 220V, which means you can bring abroad. The charging time is normally fine since I will charge overnight. I am not sure if Sanyo batteries will last longer or shorter than other brands but I reckon those with the same capacity should be about the same. Anyway, Sanyo is the world's largest manufacturer, I believe, and they are the OEM makers to many brands.

There were some issue with the batteries on the fast discharging which resulted in many CSers going back to them and exchange. You can see the thread here.

Thus not sure their current batch does not have this issue.

$44.80 - Energizer 1-hour charger + 4x2500 NiMHs found at Cold Storage. Normal price $59.90. Bought the Sanyos b4 but did not last 2 wks even. Also using a brand called Camelion 2600NiMHs. Damn shiok. Same as the Energizers last 2 mths.

Can last 2 months.

I think the lasting of the batteries depends on the number of shot you use and the settings too. the 2500 bat can only last me for a week.. cos i am taking photo everyday.. About 20 to 50 shots a day..
